Hi All

I have been slowly chipping away at the long list of jobs to get my Series 2A back on the road. I am sorry I have been slack with no progress photos. I will get to that shortly.

Next big job is to repaint the roof. The current white paint is heavily sun damaged (crazed) and I would like to take it back to bare aluminium.

What is the best method to do this? Paint stripper (in small sections) or DA sander? I really don't want to remove the roof.

Then, once the roof is cleaned of all old paint, an etch primer, high build primer then 2 or 3 top coats of white gloss should make a big difference.

Thanks heaps

Removing the roof is pretty easy. and would make the job a lot easier in my opinion,

I would use a DA, but you may find it tricky getting in to all the corners etc..

good luck!

I have to repaint a shorty roof at some point, I was fortunate and found a free roof which will be fitted temporarily while I do the job. Roof off would have to be the easiest.

Because of all the fiddly bits I think the only practical way will be paintstripper and mostly hand sanding. Soda blasting would be ideal but I've no idea what this would cost.

I have repainted my roof, safari top and the sides,
paint stripper only, don't touch it with a sander,
back later, dinner has been called.

I have a bundle of pictures of my roof etc, but all I did was paint strip , acid wash, alodine,
fix any real problems, but not lose it's heritage, prime and paint.
this approach allowed me to paint my roof in deep bronze green on the top and white inside, which makes it much brighter inside.
take the roof off and do it properly, not hard.
