Oil on different drive way surfaces

Hey guys we all own rovers, we all know what its like to have oil on the driveway right?

What kind of surface do you have, and how do you clean up oil stains and spills.

I have ashphelt with a few small spills, im looking for ideas. Being ashphelt I was told degreasers are no good.

Asphalt is petroleum based (tar/bitumen is the matrix with stone aggregate as the filler) the matrix is dissolved by degreaser 8O

Steel trowelled concrete with a sealer is probably the best surface.

But Land Rovers don't leak so it's academic :wink:

When you do oil changes you could drain the oil into a roller tray and get the paint roller out and paint the rest of the driveway to camoflage the oil stains 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I was once told if a Land Rover doesnt leak it doesnt have oil in it. :wink:

I have a concrete drive. I spread dry cement powder onto the oil spill. I picks up al the oil and is dirt cheap to buy.

After a few days I just sweep it up.

:roll: hmmmmmm,if only it was that easy,i have a dirt driveway 800 metres long and have the reverse problem,that is the driveway(dust or mud depending on the inclement weather) sticking to the underside of the vehicle ,especially where the oil leaks from,although once covered generously in dust it does seem to reduce the leaking of oil :wink: :roll: https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ 8)

That's why I raerly degrease my engine, gearbox, etc.... My driveway is concrete, very badly done by a previous owner of the house. Rolling around on the crawler to work on the Rangie as it gets caught on the high bits where the concrete has been pushed up by an offending tree :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Oil stains, degreaser does the job, there's so many it's hard to tell which ones are old and which are fresh.
