Yeah, sometimes it's better to say nothing. Note how they grabbed (I assume) your signature line from that forum and used it against you.
Now I'll get you to edit yours on this forum so no one does it here:

I think Landrover bashing just comes with the territory. My mates all agree that my Disco will go further than any of their 4X4s I am invariably the one called to get them out of the s&*t when they get stuck. But at no time is mine better than any of the japanese 4X4s The usual agrument is my experience off road not the vehicle (I think that means they all think I'm getting old)
Weird attitude, yes, do I give a fat rats proverbial, no
I just keep taking photographic evidence to annoy them.

Not even going to respond to the "unexperienced, uninformed, close minded" tools on the other forum, however.....
I got that DVD in the mail, and I must say, "essential" it ain't!!
Nice for the Toorak Tractor driver who wants to know how to mount the gutter to wash the car, otherwise, def. not essential....
It advises to enter water extremely slowly, then change gears (if in a manual) https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

What are you bitching about.
Every time someone posts anything objectionable about LRs, you all go over to what ever site it may be and have a whole load of fun screwing them at there own game.
If they haven’t woken up yet that they will never win an argument about LRs, fine, it’s just another excuse to go and tear strips off the no-brainers.
Don’t whinge, just enjoy.

Not quite, you need to remove the apostrophe out of "it's" - the apostrophe makes it a contraction of "it is". https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Ron
barney
9th January 2006, 06:53 PM
the apostrophe also indicates ownership as in "Matthew's post was incorrect but has now been set right thanks to Ron's guidance."
but, to be fair, i guess i should've given the "it" a capital. but, then again "it" is not being used as a proper noun so it's need for a capital is not the case.

I havent been there in months, but i had my say. Noddy's comments were good. LX470 says he doesnt bait his Anti Land Rover posts and claims it is idiotic, yet the comment at the end of his post required inclusion. Matt

Yes, the apostrophe can indicate ownership. However, in the case of "it's", it is generally accepted that it is not used that way in "it's"

since i have not assigned a gender to the said pig, it is an "it". so, therefore i have no choice but to express the ownership of the pig's voice as "it's" voice.
as a final word on this matter, it might be generally accepted that "it's" may only be a contraction of "it is", but as my lifestyle has been somewhat non-conformist since my early school days, i would like to point out that something being "generally accepted" does not make it the rule and it wasn't accepted by me. to be perfectly honest, no-one even asked me!

Oh Dear.........
What have i done????
i posted a reply after the moderator removed one of my posts.
The post that was removed was not offensive or angry, it was truth.
Truth about how they cant see how a Euro 4wd can be better.
it went on to say how the forum reflects the magazine and the moderators need to cull posts when they are getting bad. i considered the fight to be getting to a stage that the Anti 4wd lobby groups would have a feild day on.
Anyhow it was pulled and i was not happy, so i posted a very short one and hence i have been banned from Overlander for Life.
Yippy................. i never have to post there again.
Why i was even there i dont know. the magazine is pox.
Anyhow. if i have offended any of my fellow LR lovers i am truely sorry.
Back to normal posts....

Interesting had a look at the overlander topic forum, there was a mention in it about toyotas with chevy engines.
Many years ago a mate of mine bought a cj6 jeep and wanted to get into 4wding seriously, ( he had a suzuki buzzbox before that , but it broke.) Found a club and joined then. He invited me along whenever they had meetings, I only ever went to one, can't even remember the club name.
I have seen in various forums descriptors such as knobjockeys and other terms you wouldn't use in a gentlemans forum( apologies to dullbird) well all those terms applied to this mob of blokes, most had toyotas, short wheel base mainly, with chevy V8's under the bonnet, there version of offroading was to engage4wd and spin all 4 wheels up a main road, then go and do the same in the dirt.
Needless to say my dopey mate, after hanging about with this mob of dropkicks, had this eternal quest to get more speed out of the jeep, nothing about how well it went off road just make it go faster. Btw he is still my mate, regardless of some of his stupidity.
I think they are the people on that overlander forum, albeit a bit older now.

i went back 6 months or so back and a old work friend was on the door, so i got in......
Then one of the unhappy crew spotted me and i was followed all night. it was very funny. it was like they thought they were invisible.. like a bad american movie when there on a stake out..... if they only knew...
Anyhow after a few hours of this and them being dissapointed that i had not shot the place up or something that i am not likely to do, they had one of them ask me to leave. i smiled and walked out... and on the way out i chatted to the door ****** (work friend) she nearly fell over when one of them told her i was banned.....
