There is a thread on here some where, I think it is something like "force 9, is there anything better?"
Les Richmond know what they are doing, i got the 35spline version which was quite hard to acheive and only needed with massive hp

Whats wrong with the Salisbury in the defender?

The only thing I can see is the 24 spline axle is the fuse.
I started enquiries about upsizing to 35 and it's just a little too hard but can be done.

The LRA rover9 will do the trick with 31/24spline axles

Can you fit an eaton elocker or kam elocker with 24spline hi tough axles into the puma?

Overkill for a 2.2! I would either build whats in it or gets a Salisbury and bolt that in. Will have to shorten the tailshaft if you fit a Salisbury though

Tbh airlockers of any brand other than maxidrive are not worth the hassle

We must have posted at the same time😊.
I would just lock whats there, h/duty cw&p and axles.

So you think that's ok to run 35" s ?

Pegged Ashcroft gears with a decent locker and axles should withstand most abuse from a 2.2 .

Run 35s if you need them, just make sure they are legal, my suggestion for your application would be F/R Eaton elockers, Hi tough axles and flanges, Ashcroft CVS and CW/P.

There is a huge benifit with the LRA Rover9 its the ability to fit the TruHi9 diff (high pinion rear) Its awesome! It depends on your plans for the car and if you are going to LS it one day (LRA are doing Defenders now)

Another option would be to buy the front and rear MaxiDrive diffs that I will be selling off my 1990 RRC in 2 weeks. Complete diffs with MD 4.1 CW&P (perfect for 35" tires) Ashcroft CV, MaxiDrive axles, drive flanges, new discs and 2" extended braided steel brake lines. The diffs are converted to oil lubed hubs and come with 3 degree caster corrected front QT radius arms and cranked HD trailing arms, HD tie rod and drag link. I'm going overseas on Monday night so will be selling everything off the RRC when I get back in 2 weeks. LRA do great work but my bits may be a "one stop" solution for you. PM if you would like more details
