If travelling in remote/semi-remote areas, the backup from the operators within the VKS 737 network is fantastic.

As my recent NRMA Premium Care thread, an HF radio plus VKS membership is cheap insurance for remote travel.

Worth more than the subscription.

We have used VKS 737 on all our Edjit adventures since 2008 and have found the operators to be helpful and friendly. I remember just after installing our HF and telling our daughter that the message service is for emergencies only ten listening into a sked and hearing that we had a message. Calling in we were read the message which was from her - "Did well in maths exam". Even the operator from Charters Towers had a chuckle.

Would recommend them to anyone doing remote area travel.
