G'day , a question for the Brains Trust .
Have 2010 V6 RRS , 6 speed box -gets a random fault , usually after running cruise control towing , however it has now spat it out running downhill to go uphill - has a shudder/jolt and flashes 'Gearbox Fault ' orange triangle . (Road speed approx 100km/h )
Turn it off and on - fault disappears and drive is restored .
plug in my nanocom and the fault is " P0829 5-6 shift "
The magical internet informs me that this is possibly a harness issue or low voltage .
Has this occurred to any one else ?
Have just had box serviced - oil n filter change . All Genuine , but it did have nongenuine filter pan ( metal ) and filter enclosed .

How old / Flat is your battery?
("It starts the car ok" isnt an accurate enough reading [bigsmile1] )

Get it diagnosed properly either at manuel automatics in Thomastown or A&B in Dandenong. There is a possibility it is a mechatronics issue however the dreaded 5/6 shift fault is usually more serious. How many km on the trans?

P2704 is the critical and indicative DTC for worn stator bushes causing clutch E to fail to lock within the allowable time so hopefully doesn't require a rebuild. Occurring shortly after an oil change is worrying though.

Thanks Chaps !
Tombie , yes have considered the battery issue - was heading to jaycar this arvo to obtain a led readout for the 12v socket - dodgy I know but will work in the short term .
Justin , have emailed A&B ( Sid was v helpful ) have suggested a road test and hook up to their diagnostic whatsit whilst driving . Had nor con considered Manuel autos - they are a lot closer than Dandenong .
Graeme , keeps throwing the same code p0829 , so that's sort of good .......I always had the thought of the 'box being the weak link in the power train , it goes like a rocket .
192,000 kms , first gearbox service was at 130k approx ,2013 .
They are a splendid car , so it not making me antsy ! Just want to sort it correctly so it powers on .

130k is a bit long for the first service I'm afraid in some cases...😐😐

I can attest to that. 120k oil change, 190k gearbox change.

200,000km oil change. 233,000km still going strong touch wood. I think my gearbox had a very easy life cruising at hundreds of km a day at highway speed and little towing based on the previous only other owner. Commuting from Perth to Northam each day.

First fluid change was done at 60k, next one due 120k for me.
I tow a big Cat and a Crossover and run some healthy tune as well, so I service it more often.

If I obtained mine sooner I would have as well. Ah well, now I drop the oil annually, so it gets a half flush each year, in the vain attempt to maintain what life it has left.

All good info , yes i purchased 'pre-loved' ! I suspect there was some towing in it previous life ... and if i drive to work its a 140km round trip , i do tow my camper with it and have towed other campers up to 1500kg (on and off road )
It has been going like a train the last few days - i have sort of budgeted that within 2 years it may need a box , it is the weakest link if not serviced often and at $500-600 a year thats 10 years of servicing for a box . ( see how my man maths works ! )
So , purchased a Jaycar 12v indicator - at pre start up 12.3v , starting causes a dip ....to approx 9v , then it idles up to 14.4 and stabilises at 13.6v .
This is all over a approx 2mins timescale .
So Mr Tombie may be on the right path !

Oh , I think your right !
But if you ask LR Dealer they'll tell you 210,000km if first change - that's pretty much the life of a box . Most of these vehicles are purchased by first owner as company or lease cars . Its when they get down to a reasonable price that people like me purchase and accept there may be some works required.
"Sealed for life " is a misnomer -i would imagine its the 'life" of the warranty plus 20 feet ! !
I still love my Land Rover tho .

If you ask a dealer they'll recommend servicing it far sooner than the 210k you stated...

If required I have a good low km 6HP26X Gearbox Available on a Pallet in Melbourne, Victoria (Kinglake West Actually).
Removed from Range Rover Sport, 47,000km only.

Commuting from Perth to Northam each day.My 2010's 6HP28 was pampered but very soon after its first change at 120K (IIRC about 5K) the whitemetal stator bushes failed.
