Hey dudes,
I may be able to get my hands on a couple of 10 spline air lockers for the right money.
Problem is I don't want 10 spline air lockers. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
So I rang ARB and asked for a list of bits and pieces needed to convert them to 24 spline.
List as follows....
020406 Flange cap $75.74
030124 Cylinder cap assy $94.50
130306 Splined side gear $98.84
140101 Pinion gears x 4 $32.55ea
130106R Side gear $68.71
080202 Seal housing $28.56
Plus some other o-rings and bolts etc coming to around about $500 an end!! 8O
Has anyone else done this conversion and if so is there a cheaper way of doing it?
Can I get these bits elsewhere? Cheaper?
Or should I just get a new 24 spline one and be done with it?

there only 1195 new ea f&r
so if the parts are bout $500 then you have $694 left to be the same
as a newie.
if you are gettin them for 200 ea then thats a different story
ide just buy new.

Or you can get Jack Mac to reforge the sun gears.
He told me $200 plus $600 for his axels

Chriso,
Are you suggesting the only bits I need are the sun gears or do I still require all the other bits?
I would have thought the rest is interchangable but what do I know? (not much) https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

i too was going to suggest that, but i dont know the internals
of the arb.
im assuming that by the parts list you posted that there is a fair differance
between the 10 and 24?? other wise you would only need the drive
gears???
if you only need the drive gears done than yes jack mac can re spline
them. he did my detroit gears for 180.
best bet is to ring him.( be warned hes not the most phoneable person)

My connection at ARB said there is no kit as such to upgrade the locker from 10 to 24 spline, I then rang Jack and he said "I'll take out the sun gears, soften them, reforge them and harden again for $200" I might add, he wasn't to bad to speak to that time, didn't hang up on me or anythink.

Yeah I know about Jmac (Jeff). I've dealt with him several times over the years. He has good days and bad days.
Phil, I'm not familiar with the internals either but was hoping that at least some of it was interchangable. I thought perhaps ARB were trying to sell me more than I need to do the job.
Thanks guys. I'll phone JacMac and see what he has to say. I'm already leaning on the side of a new 24 spliner though, just to save all the hassle. Nothing is ever straight forward is it. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Pretty much backs up everything the ARB dude said.
I may know of a 24spline locker in centre available, I'll as for you on the weekend mate.
Dave.

bugger!
why would someone engineer something so different, that is
basically the same!
look at the 10/24spline detroit lockers, there drive gears are
physcially the same except for the spline count.
flamin engineers
