Is there a windshield wiper system upgrade that can be installed on the Perenties? Mine (an 88 troop carrier) seems to have 2 speeds: slow and very slow. Both of which are only good in conditions of light mist. So, is there a system that can be installed that will make the Perentie drivable in actual rain? Is this a worn out old wiper motor issue or just that the old system was simply pathetic?

I have an '85 120 which would be identical, and the windscreen wipers are ok speed-wise. Not equivalent to a modern vehicle of course but I've mostly found them adequate. Perhaps check the circuit for bad connections and the mechanical linkages for binding. I assume the gears run in grease so that may have hardened too.

As to replacing with a later model, there looks to be two motors: up to 2002, and post 2002. They look pretty similar but I couldn't tell you if they're interchangeable or not, or indeed, if the later model offers any more performance. The later is also double the price, so you'd hope so!

G'day All,

Until you sort out your wiper problems you can use Rain-X on your windscreen to help with visibility in rain:

This is the link to their website with information about the product:
Rain-X: Outsmart the Elements | Wiper Blades, Windshield Treatments (https://www.rainx.com/)

Also the anti-fog is excellent in series L/R's.

Available in all the usual shops for vehicle parts.

Already using something similar and have replaced the wiper blades with better ones. The speed of the wipers themselves is the issue and they are basically useless.
