Hi,

Paddocks in the UK are pretty good, comprehensive stock but usually Britpart which some have a low opinion of. Craddocks can be good for hard to find parts or otherwise no longer available, essentially the stuff Paddocks don't have. Same goes for John Richards Surplus. I find Craddocks can be a bit painful on delivery times and costs, Craddocks are good and Richards excellent.

Probably the best supplier of quality engine parts are Turners

Turner Engineering - Remanufacturer of Land Rover Engines and supplier of Land Rover engine parts (http://turner-engineering.co.uk)

More expensive than the rest, but from what I understand they are very good.

cheers

Pistons & shell bearings you might find locally.
A good (old fashioned) engine reconditioner will have a network of companies he can contact to source parts. They will probably be well known brands.

When I struggled to get +.020" rings for my 6-cylinder motor one company tracked down rings but even the owner said that they were too expensive, another company found +.060" pistons without trying too hard.

once again, try repco,
got my big ends and mains same day, and a decent price.
