I have a failed LCD in the factory Clarion radio and I am about to start searching wreckers for a working, original radio/cassette unit which I will simply swap. Will all 95-98 P38s have the same unit and will they all provide the same connections for the CD stacker and steering wheel switches?
TIA

They normally have the Harmon kardon unit in them, which are becoming harder to find.

Ta, I thought the radio was Clarion and the amps and speakers were Harmon Kardon.

The early ones were Clarion and the later ones were Alpine. Harmon Kardon were the speakers and amps.

It might be worth getting in touch with clarion, they did a lovely job on mine, new scree and a connection for a jack plug input, I think it was about $190 from memory including postage, still working perfectly 3 years later.

Just as an alternative option

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Clarion ceased stocking the LCD a couple of years ago sadly.
I have now sourced an identical radio from another '95 which looks like it has been refurbished with an AUX cable and possible LCD replacement sometime in its life. I was given a security code from LR based on the donor VIN but this failed so it may have been changed with the repair (?).
Anyway, on a hunch I swapped the front panel from the wrecked radio to the existing chassis and - it works! So, the security code is not stored in the front panel/display/button assembly even though it appears to have most of the digital circuitry. This might be good to know as any future failed LCDs can be fixed by swapping the front panel (3 clips) if you can find an old radio with working display.
