Auto in defender?

Is there a auto box that can be installed into a 130 defender 300TDI

A few people have installed Discovery (similar vintage) boxes in Defenders. A search on here should find a bit about it.

Hi,
I have a 130 big cab tdi 300 with a new Diso 1 auto fitted by Davis Performance about 100K kms ago and it is great--so nice to drive and we have taken a slideon through the Vic High Country, towed a horse float etc and it really transforms the car and does about 12ltrs/100 towing.

However, one thing we did learn at the start was that a second transmission oil cooler is essential so we fitted one with thermo fans under the front of the tray as room is limited at the front of the car although we still have the initially fitted small cooler there as well. Now it runs at 75 degrees under normal driving but the fan does cut in in traffic or hill work. We had a VDO transmission gauge fitted as well.

Bruce Davis also can provide a very nice centre console/cubby box--actually the same as the dual cab automatic for sale on Car Sales at the moment.

Easy conversion. There are a number on here who have done it.
As already said an auto from a 300tdi D1 is the easiest.

Will be doing this to my 130, though ill be going to a Isuzu 4jb1 engine also, but i have the ZF4HP22 from the D1, my engine gearbox combo came out of a running defender 110 that has it going for a while, in theory it should all bold right up, you can get custom interior trim for the auto surround or make your own, I am un decided yet as to where to mount my auto shifter, most seem to remove the 'cubby box' and mount it there, id like to maintain my cubby box, so trying to work out if i can fit the shifter down on the transmission tunnel still, perhaps to the left of the transfer shifter or something.

Have a look at the photos of this 130 on car sales --it shows the centre console mounting position and cubby box, same as my 130 exactly, Bruce Davis Performance gets this shape made or have someone else make one up.

cant really see the transfer shifter too well on this one.

any more photos or photos of your one to show better detail on this? keeps the factory cuby box yes?
