New Suspension - help needed

My D2a has 215k on what i assume is std suspension so an upgrade is definitely overdue.

I will be putting a 1inch lift in front and about a 2" in the rear to level the truck out a bit or have the rear slightly higher. using kings as they have the progressive rear.

My question is will using a +2" shock (Terrafirma Pro Sport, open/close of 390/640) open up a can of worms in regards to ABS/brake lines/bumpstops/cross member/prop shafts/springs dislocating or would a better idea be to go the std length All Terrain shock that is 370/595 giving an extra inch flex over stock.

I really wanted the better Pro Sport shock but it may end up costing alot more to make it work.

Anyone have any opinion on how much better the Pro-sport is over the All Terrain?

Just an FYI - my rear used to be higher and it handled like a bucket of puss. I have sls though so just brought the back down a bit to a mm or so lower than the front and it's awesome. From memory (5 years ago I did my suspension) the d2 sits only sightly higher at the front. My symptoms were twitchy steering and tram tracking. Not relaxing to always have to input on the wheel. Lowering the back slightly sorted it out.

I have OME springs and shocks. I reckon they're great but people in Oz like dobinsons/koni with king springs.

Ahh thats interesting, I have read the lower rear is meant to improve handling characteristics yet have read threads saying that the slightly higher rear made the vehicle drive so much better. could be a bit of trial and error at the cost of a pair of springs.

Just something to consider, standard front coil shocks (RNB103533) are 370 - 580
Rear SLS (RPD102363) are 360 - 570, assume rear coils shocks are same as front??
So more then 60mm extra open! Someone will be able to give you exactly what needs lengthening etc, I read you may need longer brake hoses but can relocate the ABS cable.
As for bump stops with longer shocks I'd think they wouldn't squish enough to ever hit them so maybe bottoming out on the shock instead!!!
I've just changed/done my shocks with EFS and am going back to original due to poor ride quality so not sure if you've considered how much it'll change and you might not like the new stiffer ride! I know I don't!!
I'd suggest asking some one with similar if you can take a spin in there's and see if it's what you want before handing over the cash!! You might find just new original shocks is all you need?? And at around only $141 per shock from the stealers, cheaper from others suppliers at $85 (same shock but no LR stamp) so it pretty cheap!

Well for springs you are in luck if you act fast. Supercheap have 25% off online until today and sparesbox.com.au have 20% right now for some click fenzie sale.

I ordered the shocks from LRdirect.com. was only a little more for the higher spec 'pro-sport' model but for the mods that may be needed I dont think its worth it for another 40mm of flex.

The king springs are good, the terriblfirma shocks are average! Ok if you don't go offroad much at all, spend the money once and get the bilstiens, the others just won't last

Yeah if I had the funds I would have gone down the Bilstein route. I'll be more than happy if I get 20 000kms out of the terra's. For $300 bucks I wont be complaining.

Just had the suspension fitted. Kings std front and raised rear with Terrafirma all terrain shocks.

With an empty 5 seater disco the ride is a little firm for my liking but rides much nicer and actually absorbs bumps now. Its just the skittish feeling on general cruising that I'm not a fan of but I'm sure this will change once I have some load.

Ride height is perfect. Glad I opted for the std front height springs over the raised.

Yeah Ive read mixed opinions on them. It seems most aftermarket shocks are firm unless you get OEM replacements. They are definitely not bad. But probably no where near as plush as the fresh set of stock shocks.

Without testing shocks out its so hard as everyone has their personal tastes. Anyways for a lift well under $1000 im very happy.
