All You Need to Know About the WannaCrypt Ransomware - MajorGeeks (http://www.majorgeeks.com/news/story/all_you_need_to_know_about_the_wannacrypt_ransomwa re.html)

it must be (more than usually) serious as Microsoft has issued an update for XP and Vista!

the update is here--
Download Microsoft WannaCrypt Hotfix Patch - MajorGeeks (http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/microsoft_wannacrypt_hotfix_patch.html)

And it was discovered by the American National Security Agency.

not quite correct.

it was discovered by lots of different people.
the NSA took all the different exploits and put them in 1 tool set for their own use
then in april, the tool kit got released into the internet.
then in may, someone took advantage of the nsa toolset and used to exploit systems for ransom ware purposes.

I believe in fact that it was created by the NSA.
