Td5 110 Struggling to start

OK , my Td5 110 is struggling to start. It was first doing the usual tick (starter motor) so I just replaced the plunger and contacts in the starter motor, and it now kicks over but takes quite a while of holding the key to start.

- Glow plugs tested all good
- Crank angle sensor cleaned
- MAF cleaned (no codes thrown)
- Injector harness recently replaced preventatively
- Fuel filter recently replaced
- Fuel valves checked at filter
- Clear line hooked up to check for air - where it doesn't appear there is any.

Any advice on what next?

Is the fuel pump noisy?
Have you checked the red plug on the ECU for oil?
Is the fuel pressure regulator leaking?

As it is now a lot colder are you giving the glow plugs sufficient time to heat up before cranking. Not sure if the td5 has an idiot light or something else. Even my old series 3 would start first pop if the plugs were hot enough.

15 seconds on a cold day comes to mind. Defender definitely takes a bit longer on recent mornings.

I can see you have cleaned the crank sensor but have you checked the wiring to the crank sensor?
It is only a short run of two cables until it disappears into the harness.
These cables are screened to stop interference from the starter motor upon starting.
I had a similar issue with starting and replacing these cables with new screened cable cured the problem.
Mine were clearly affected by heat and oil as the insulation was hardened and cracked, exposing the core of the cable.
The cable's run from the crank sensor to the ECU, I just purchased a new plug and re-routed the cables in a protective plastic convoluted trunking to the ECU.
