Im going with this too.
I've not seen inside one, but it's very clean as I imagine a cotton press would be,, perhaps to clean even, as I would expect to see some left over weeds or something , and I'm not sure what the steps are at the back.

Indeed it is. Called a Floatliner.

22nd May 2017, 12:37 PM
Different make, same thing. The trailer runs on super singles, and lifts itself and the 20 odd tonne of glass up. Then the pads are pneumatically pressed against the glass. There's a magnetised 'tarp' to seal up the floor and that's it.

It's a spiral concentrator in the same ore beneficiation plant. It concentrates the mineral by using gravity and centrifugal force to move the lighter components of the ore to the outside of the spiral as the slurry flows down the spiral. Heavier mineral concentrates in the centre of the spiral from where it is collected.

Come on, it really can't be that hard. Or is it too hard for you all??? Do you need an arbiter to see who goes on?
Let's try and get it on track, unless disrupting it is on your agenda. No "bonus points" that derail the thread. If Mischief is your bent, there are better places.

Glad to hear it. Not giving up 'makes you' a gentleman, apparently.
BTW, the Gentleman thing is a clue, although not a very helpful one. Think, if you were a 'swell' these days, and you wanted to pay a cabbie.... Now, go back to those days, and think how you would have done it. That there is a personal clue to you, Billy. But someone else will probably pinch it.

If it is on a boat it looks like it has something to do with the water supply for the deck hose, Maybe an inspection box?

These are all wonderfully descriptive names, but as Mr bee utey has pointed out Ancient Mariner, has given us a technically correct answer although the answer I wanted was "Strum Box".
The Mercy Rule must now be applied and the prize given to The Ancient Mariner.

My guess (via google search) is "strum box" refers to the coarse grating that protects the inlet to the bilge pump, a bit like guitar strings in appearance. A "sea chest" or "sea strainer" on the other hand refers to a box containing a coarse mesh filter that keeps wildlife from entering your cooling pump. This of course has to be opened and cleaned frequently. Some very interesting pictures of sea strainers and their failures on the internet.
Well on the off chance that AM doesn't want to get his sea boots dirty down in the bilge, I do have a widget on hand that should have some people guessing for a while.

All such strainers are called Strum Boxes. At least in the schools I went to.
As you pointed out earlier, Ancient Mariner called it a Sea Chest and since that is technically correct I had to give him the win.
Incidentally: I believe that the original strum was a trainer for draining the liquid from the malted grain in the brewing process.

Well done that fellow. It is indeed a skiver. My wife bought it 40 years ago off an old man who had owned it for a long time. She made a couple of sets of small horse harness with the aid of this tool. I've just brought the blade back to a razor edge for the first time in years. She used it mainly to taper the ends of leather straps, either to join two lengths or to reduce bulk in an end loop.
