Prefer to remember him as The Saint. He was never Bond. Loved his Volvo in The Saint. Vale.

And don't forget "Ivanhoe".
I think he said he wasn't a talented actor but, he was in a hell of a lot of shows.
I loved watching "The Persuaders" too, Ian.
And "The Saint".

Well, I liked him as James Bond, added a bit of humour to the roll. Oh, and I liked him as The Saint also. Time flies, hard to believe he was 89 when he died. RIP Roger Moore.

Remember him mostly for The Saint, for a long time I wanted a P1800 Volvo....

That's a great car. Having grown up during the 80's in America, I wasn't really exposed to The Saint.

Raily, NBC screened a number of series in prime time but, it would have been before you were a sparkle in your father's eye. [wink11]
Volvo willingly supplied a number of P 1800s, the first one, less than a month after the initial request.
Aston Martin was the first choice of vehicle, by the producers, but AM denied the request.
Volvo was a little known manufacturer, outside of Scandinavia, at the time. The newly released P 1800 was Volvo's first venture into the sports car market, previously producing staid, solid vehicles.
Simon Templar gave Volvo more publicity than the company could have bought.

I listened to an 8 year old radio interview with Roger Moore this morning and he said he played Bond in that fashion as he thought the whole thing was farcical. As he did 7 Bond films he must have been doing something right.
I too liked the Saint and The Persuaders" good stuff with a touch of the unbelievable.
Vale Roger Moore.

A lovely story about Roger Moore , his sense of humour, and his class.
The heartfelt moment when a young boy met James Bond (http://thenewdaily.com.au/entertainment/movies/2017/05/24/james-bond-roger-moore-tribute/?utm_source=Responsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20170525_TND)

Roger Moore. A good name for a Bond actor.
I play in a band with a few like minded musos and we have often played under the name "Let's Roger Moore". Will have to do the next gig as a memorial show.

It's interesting to think of the different style each actor brought to Bond. Moore was certainly suave and had the raised eyebrow. Daniel Craig was muscular.
