Not 100% sure where to post this, nor am I sure how it goes under the T&Cs, but here goes. In the South East of Melb there has long been a LR 'specialist', known by many on this forum, for good or bad. The news is that the business has now pretty much been sold, and the new player has a grasp on the word "professionalism".
I have no intention of giving him a 'plug', nor do I intend to denigrate the previous owner, however new blood is to be welcomed. I hope to encourage him to join this forum.

He's making a very good fist of it so far. The place is already looking tidier, albeit with a fair way to go. I, for one, hope he makes a go of it, as the more the merrier. I reckon there'll be a bit of a clearance of stuff in the next few weeks. The changeover is scheduled for next week.
I'm refraining from saying anything nasty about the person you mentioned, as I'm hoping to get my D2 back next week.....

I know that is the least of you problems but just make sure your car is in as is condition when you dropped it off and i mean that.
I could really tell you some horror story`s that would make any one`s toe nail`s curl[happycry]
Good luck and i hope it really works out in your favour [thumbsupbig]

I'm not getting all of that. I am getting the botched job I did on replacing a stuffed exhaust manifold stud fixed. The car was damaged in the street, and that is being fixed.
Frankly, Chris, I am just glad that it's going to be over. Even threats of VCAT produced no movement, but the new bloke doesn't want to deal with old headaches, and who can blame him?
There are many lessons to be learnt here, not least that trying to save a buck is often a fruitless exercise. If I had paid the 4 odd K and had the trans done properly in the first place I would have had the car all of this time,to drive and enjoy. In the end it will have cost me more and I still won't be confident the trans will be OK.
As I said, I hope that David can make a go of the place. He is in no doubt about how much bad blood he has to wade through. From what I have seen so far, I believe he'll do OK.

Qu. John , So has your d2 been there for 2 years for an exhaust stud? I thought it was there for a warranty claim on a botched auto trans job? The new bloke was an ex employee of the previous owner I believe, it Might be in his interest to change his trading name and start off fresh.
Any way hope it all works out in YOUR favor mate,
Cheers, Mario

I See prying eyes have been in here deleting names that no longer have anything to do with or a owner of a business .
Also for such people no business was named or shamed although a couple of names were mentioned which any joe blow would not have a clue of who or what and even the one who deleted it would not know :bat:
A bit over the top i feel.
So here are some names guess who they are and what they run and they also have nothing to do here , I guess they get deleted aswell:wallbash:

I seriously did not want to fall foul of the 'name and shame' policy. Believe me, had I said what I really thought, I would have, so I thought it best to keep the discussion vague. What you and others do is for you to explain to the Mods. Simple as that.

The ownership has not changed yet, Chris. Maybe it won't, as there are some issues with the agent. I understand the Mods position perfectly.

Mario, as you well know, the car is there because I paid to have the transmission fixed, and it failed. At the same time, I asked that the exhaust stud issue be fixed. At this point, as I said in a post in response to Chris, I will be happy for this to be over. If the car comes back, driving, and not leaking, with the damaged door fixed, then I will write this off to experience. It would be great if some fairy came along and gave me some money for what I've lost, but I have two family members who work in the Department of Justice, one quite high up, and one in CAV, and both of them tell me to take what I can get and get out.
It's a nearly 20 year old car. Do I want to spend ANOTHER couple of years in court? Do you need to phone a friend? It's hopefully over.

Forum rules for what? Saying that toorak tractor has been sold to dave? Dave worked there about 10 years ago, has come back, bought the business and takes over very soon. So where is the name and shame in that??? I am confused.

pray tell
why do we have multiple people with no skin in the game throwing a tanty when the person with skin in the game is happy to see how it is handled ?
if you have an issue, use the report feature to have a say in how it's handled.

For a fact i have been there and dealt with it so i know the dealings here so you could say in your words Skin in the game[thumbsupbig] .
Also in my eyes there was nothing to report so no issue that i saw needing intervention [wink11]

Hi all,
Interesting reading here, as although new to these pages i have been using the premises in question almost since the begining...granted i took leave for about 5yrs when work took me to the ACT and China (strange bedfellows), but having gone back to having Dave look after a new / old Disco i picked up, i can tell you he has done a huge anount of work on site. Workshop all cleaned out, office gutted with new waiting room, and a massive focus on the customer. I know we would all agree it would be a tragedy to see someone trying to do the right thing, be tarnished by past activity...and god knows we need all the independent Landy Specialists we can get. I know Dave is eager to resolve past issues, and he is a genuinely good guy. My tuppence worth anyway!!

Yep i was in there about a week ago. The place is definitely looking better and he seems like quite an approachable person. Hope it works out for him. As he's not far from my work. [emoji3]
