I'm trying to pair my iPhone 5 to the radio/cd player in my 2016 defender
I do it in the radio by
Selecting blue tooth
then
selecting search device

but display says "device not found "

so I try it on my iPhone by

1) making sure Bluetooth is turned on in settings

2) I can see the Alpine Cd device listed ( its says "not connected ")

When I select it on my phone it after a minute it says "connection failed ...make sure Alpine CD is with in range and turned on "

so what am I doing wrong ? .....this is a brand new radio just fitted this week ....the other one failed after it got a dose of corrugations .

I get this often as I jump between Bluetooth radios in various vehicles.
Try turning the Bluetooth setting off on the phone and then on again and see if it pairs.
Ocasionaly I have to remove the device from my phones list, turn Bluetooth off/on and search again.
I have the radio's "searching for device" as I turn the phone Bluetooth on.
It usually finds and pairs up this way and then I have no issues with automatically connecting each time I jump back in.

What version of IOS? Anyway, pairing would seem to be the issue. Usually there is an "i" button next to the device, in your case Alpine CD. Click on that "i" button, and then you should move to a different screen. Click on "Forget this Device". Then follow the pairing instructions that came with the Alpine.

( These work for iOS 10.3. Older versions may differ slightly, but the idea is the same. )

You may need to enter the pairing code that came with the Alpine. Often it is 0000, but sometimes they generate a unique one.

Do you have any other devices connected to the radio via BT? The Alpine radio that came OEM with the last Defenders only allow 3 devices to be connected via BT.
