An Actyon A200 sports, 4×4, with 2litre Mercedes 4cyl vnt CRD engine.
Great little motor, egr deleted and remapped now snd is very impressive in the torque department 😎. HOWEVER. ....

Started to develop a surge and intermittent power loss snd then a series of MIL lamp illuminating limp modes caused by huge boost spikes... even blew an intercooler hose off at one point!

At very low km ,and a visual inspection revealed no issues with the turbocharger and the actuator for the vanes.

The customer had recently travelled to the Kimberley and pilbara and encountered lots of dust and mud on the trip which was in every crack in the engine bay etc. INCLUDING INSIDE THE VNT CONTROL SOLENOID!!! This caused the spool valve inside to be erratic and stick in position from time to time and cause huge running issues. Now the big problem snd design fault here is that all other vehicles that employ a vacuum solenoid to control the VNT operation have a vac dump port plumbed into the airbox... for clean air breathing. ... the Ssangyong version is bolted to the side of the engine not far from the inner guard where ; you guessed it; it is in line to receive all sorts of debris and dust on a regular basis.. really smart idea for a 4x4 vehicle😠😠😠.
Half a can of contact cleaner and shes apples! !!

For all their bad looks, I think they drive really well, very well appointed and comfy. We had several at work when we were designing transmissions for various models.

hehe,,,nup, although, just quietly, we "may" have sourced them, but I'm not sure. When we used to assemble them at the R&D center, they were delivered in a big box,,,, from where, I know not [bighmmm]. There was no fitment of them at the factory, Ssangyong did that themselves when building the car.
Was the same for Mahindra.
