No, it escaped. I was going to release it if it wasn't poisonous but dispatch it if it was.
Friday night we had to take one of the pooches to the vet, that cost $1600, the other dog is very territorial and flushed the legless critter out. We can't afford another vet bill.

Hi,
If it has fangs it is unlikely to be non-venimous.
Cheers

I think you're on the money with the brown tree snake.
FYI all snakes are protected. Don't mention it here if you dispatch it because that's enough evidence for the $5000 fine

I didn't get up close and personal enough to check his teeth, I maintained a rake's length distance at all times. [bigsad]

If it comes back, I'll despatch it to Williams WA. [wink11]

It's a wiggly long snake... :)
Venomous or not it should not be 'dispatched' IMO. It's probably just lost. Call the council, they'll know someone that can relocate it.

Call the council.................[bigrolf]
We called them about the poo factory (5 km from here), suffocating the entire neighbourhood, last Wednesday. We were given a reference number and an assurance that they would phone us back within two hours. Still waiting. We have to look after ourselves round here.
Your dog or a lost snake? [bigwhistle]

The dog, a little terrier, gave it a wake up. It seemed to recover OK, then escaped.

Ok, now I get it. Had a little Jack Russell that tangled with a Tiger. Many dollars at vet. Dog came home. Some days later snake on doorstep in many bits, courtesy of Jack Russell. Same snake? Who knows. Snake got the dog in the end though. Game little bugger.

Ian, looks like a "Spotted Black" to me. We have some here so, if you're interested, come on over and we can try and find one for ID purposes.
If it is, you have a lucky pooch, thankfully.

Steve, I'm pretty confident that it's a brown tree snake, after comparing the original photo to one taken from the www; they could be clones.
Thank-you for your kind invitation for purpose of identification, I will have to decline due to my planned itinerary, cutting toenails and trimming ear and nasal hair. [wink11]

I recon Keelback or Rough scaled maybe.Keelback harmless, other is venomous.
Brown tree snakes are often thinner, and head upwards into the trees, the other two live on the ground.Brown tree snake is rear fanged, you could have a look and see?[bighmmm]
