Is it possible to get a free vin check, everything i find on the net says free then asks for payment to get the results [bigsad].

I tried that but the vehicle was previously reg in NSW, RTA vin check wasnt any better.

No go either, and the plates no longer come up.

Just a general check, car is for sale in Vic but was NSW registered.

If it doesn't come up on the NSW site either then I'd be a bit wary. If it's ever been registered in NSW it should come up - can the current owner give you any more details?

I know of another vehicle that was purchased with NSW plates. I was told it was registered in NSW and had been driven around Victoria. I rang RMS. No record of the car was found on their database. The plates did not belong to that car.
The previous owners were very naughty.

It's in a car yard and won't get a chance to check it out til the week end , not registered yet but photos show NSW plates.
Dummy, i checked the number again and what i thought was a slightly cut off 0 was in fact a U.
Rego details match the vin [bigsmile1].
