Nice.

Pedro - what do you mean by that recovery point comment ?

and why terrible in deep sand tracks.

(Those wheels do seem a tad wide though).

only that they are very accessable--

and the width of your track governs if you run in the packed sand of the Landy in front, or if one tyre or the other is always trying to climb out of the wheel track

Ah, maybe I should frequent the general chat more often

Thanks for the comments re "Lara" I'll give you a basic run down of her.

Front Bar, Scorpion, sourced via Dave @ Rovacraft although I now have a direct source for the equipe4x4 equivalent.

Winch 9500Xp but still being slack, wiring isnt finished as I'm relocating the control box inside the cabin and looking to finish it off when it cools down a bit here (bloody 40+ days :x )

Rope for winch is Amsteel, which I imported from OS, I landed over 5 km of the stuff and sold most of it off, I run 150' of 5/16", carry 50' of 5/16" as a extension, 50' of 3/8" as extension and have a spare 125' x 3/8" length in the rear also!

Suspension wise I use to have a long travel arrangement on the Disco I had but it was bothersome and unnecessary for 99% of driving so have gone for a more hybrid/conventional system.
Suspension consists of:
Front
-Front Dual Shock Mounts running OME, Nitrocharger external, LTR in original position.
-Slotted front bushes running on QTProducts re-aligned/lightened arms with 3 degree castor correction.
-Extended bump stops (+1")
-LRA front springs 220Lb
Rear
-Dual LTR, one front, 1 rear per side. Different valving configurations in each, 1 softer compression other softer rebound
-Equipe4x4 realigned rear lower arms
-Maxidrive Balljoint
-Extended bump stops (+1")
-LRA 320Lb rear coils

Both diffs have guards from Bruce Davis
OOT4WD Tank fitted to rear 127L
Roller Draws in rear, carrying way too much recovery gear! 2 snatch straps, 2 tree trunk protectors, lots of shackles, baseplate, axe, tomohawk, block splitter, tyre repair gear, drag chain etc. etc....
Compressor mounted in Box under left hand rear guard.

Driveline:
TD5 with 'Total Rover Tech' intercooler and Bruce Davis ECU upgrade
'Total Rover Tech' Silicone turbo hoses.
3" mandrel bent exhaust from turbo housing with (for legality) 1 straight through muffler (straight through - hint https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ )
Front prop shaft replaced with D2 style unit with DC joint to reduce front vibration.
Rear shaft fitted with Heavy duty universals.
Maxidrive axles front and rear
Currently No Lockers fitted - Had F&R lockers on last vehicle and missed the experience of actually 'driving' the vehicle. Decided to run without them for as long as possible eg. till failure of std front diff forces an upgrade  . So far have been everywhere the locked vehicles have without too much fuss and no damage so quite happy to continue like this for a while.
Goodridge extended Braided brake lines front and rear.
EBC slotted/drilled rotors with Mintex Pads F&R

Wheels and tyres
Mickey Thompson / Dick Cepek FC-IIs 305-70-16s
Fitted to 16x10 Alloys in Charcoal/Machined finish with 100mm offset.

Flares are manufactured from alloy strip, drilled to match the clips on the original flares and then bolted into position, outer surface was bead blasted and 4" of conveyor belt bonded onto the surface. Factory flare then screwed onto outer edge and bottom endge trimmed to prevent contact with tyre due to offset.

A second set of rims in 'more legal' 16x8 - Same style is on order, these will recieve the Dick Cepeks for road use and a set of Mickey Thompson MTZ will be going onto the 16x10 for tougher work (use to run claws but no lateral grip can prove interesting)

16x10s are fitted with Secondair bead locks.

Electricals - Currently in a transitional period!
Dual Exide orbitals under seat using ARB solonoid, changing to Traxide this month (finance willing) and additional Orbital being fitted in rear area for additional capacity.

Lightforce lighting as follows:
Front
2 x XGT
2 x 170
4 x 140 - roof
1 x 140 - rear flood/reversing lamp
Enforcer handheld in vehicle

Additional underbody rock-lights fitted (currently pulled off for rewiring)

Alpine Mp3 player fitted, dash being replacedd with update facia in next month or so (parts left in Adelaide, so next trip back to collect them).

Front seats are Aerotech.

An incar PC is being fitted shortly to a 8" widescreen (touchscreen) in the vehicle to replace the ipaq I use for navigation now along with rear and front mounted cameras.

ARB roof rack is sold and being replaced with a new Alloy rack from 'GreyLandy' in the next couple of weeks.

All alloy work is genuine Tombraider and front recovery points are brilliant, easily accessable and a factory option for the bar.

Number plate is, well, questionable  and just tacked on with cable ties.... Hawse is a "Total Rover Tech" item I have manufactured for sale.

Any other questions please feel free to ask 8)

Cheers

I'm usually the 'Landy in front' 8)

The vehicle floats brilliantly on even the softest sand and I generally make my own tracks on beach sand etc (where thats appropriate to do so) rather than churn in ruts.

However, in ruts she's remarkably placid and normally just widens the exisitng ones a bit as she passes over them.

Mike can you expand on your access to the 'Equippe' gear. I am interest in their new rose jointed trailing arms and rear 'A' frame. Is it possible to get these in Aust for a reasonable price.

Regards, Barry

PS have you sorted the seatbelt issue with the Aerotech's?

Looks like a 110 from the pic - shouldn't it be a 90 ?

And where's Lara ?

Frenchie
25th January 2006, 07:07 PM
No, Lara's vehicle was actually a 110 with a Hi-Cap rear end (just like Angelina I suppose  ).
