Stopped for gas at a servo on east link between Ferntreegully road and Wellington road going south. Now I know my gas tank holds eighty litres of gas. Never gets past seventy five litres when I fill. I was running on gas when I pulled into the servo to fill up. I stopped filling at eighty litres. So unless my Discovery`s gas tank grew some more volume I`m guessing there is some thing fishy with there pumps. Did mention to the bloke behind the counter in a nice enough way that there seemed to be a issue with there pumps. Got the company line of there checked every week. Oh really? So every servo that I have been to in the last two years of Disco ownership is wrong?

Never had a car on gas so not sure of the mechanism that stops filling......

Was the driveway level?

I assume liquid flows back when full, could this part be faulty on you car??

It could be the servo but just check your side of things.....just incase

Sometimes the cutoff valve (inside your tank) can fail. When was the tank last checked?
When this valve fails to operate, the pump just keeps pumping. It gradually slows to a standstill.
At least, that is my experience.

Yup, as Mick says...the problem lays with your cut off valve. I had similar issues on an LPG vehicle I used to have. It happened sporadically...so I kept an eye on it while it was pumping and stopped it when it got to where it should be, or maybe squeezed an extra couple of litres in...when it was cheap.

As said the gas cut off valve could be faulty. Do assume it's the pumps fault. Gas systems are supposed to be checked every 10 years for safety reasons, but no one does unless selling the vehicle. When was yours last checked?

Faulty AFL. Very unlikely to be the fault of the servo. They DO get checked, it's mandatory. You may find that it rights itself, but I wouls have it checked. Beware though, if your tank is 'out of test' the car can be deemed unroadworthy. 10 years is the time limit, and, no, they can't test it in the car.

Oh, the valves aren't that dear. Better than overfilling the tank.
