Penrite HPR5-40.
I do mine every 10-12k kms. Depends on your climate and use, more frequently for extreme temps, lots of short use etc. all this should be in the owners handbook. Check the oil pump bolt once, torque it up with loctite and then forget about it

Penrite HPR5-40.

Penrite is good stuff. I buy the 20l container. My limited grasp on arithmetic tells me it works out cheaper...

Must cost a bit[bigrolf]

This is a worry. Mine has done 300,000 ish, and I don't know if it has ever been done. It never has in my time. Would it have gone wrong by now? When ( if ) I ever get it back should that be the first thing I do?

Just drop the sump next service and check it

Fair enough. Gunna do the injector harness at the same time.

So here is a link to a "personal growth experience" with a guest appearance from a famous "bolt" around the kms yours is at.

Thanks for that...[bigsad]

Now I'm scared to drive it home from Braeside. My whole saga started with a popped quick connector on the ATF cooler line.......

Bloody hell, I didn't realise you've been through that.

That's enough to put you in a straight jacket !

And only use genuine or Mann-Hummel rotor filters and a good quality full flow filter.

Any decent 0/5/10W-40 preferably that meets/exceeds API CI-4+ or ACEA E7 specs or better (proper HD diesel oil specs)

Oils like Castrol Edge 0W-40 and Mobil 1 0W-40 are good, but IMO the HD diesel oils are better.

I use Nulon 5w-30 full synthetic diesel, now for 4.5 years no problems with a change once a year or about 10KK.

Reason Is that full synthetic usually has a greater resistance to coking on hot shutdown than semi synthetic.

You haven't not enjoyed a job until you have removed a coked turbo and tried to clean it out with Carbon tetrachloride or similar solvent. Often unrecoverable so worth the extra money for the oil IMHO.

I use Penrite HPR5 and do it every 10,000
at current rate that's every 2 months...

i ring up Roverlord and get a service kit with the filters etc, easy way to do it and he's a great guy to deal with.
