Someone I know just gave me some Land Rover books and there was a copy of the Four Wheel Drives catalogue from 1995, a while ago in a spares car I got an earlier copy of their catalogue.
What's interesting is that some prices have remained much the same. I wonder, is this a reflection of a move from genuine to aftermarket ? Britpart/Bearmach coming on the scene ? Maybe something else I'm missing ?
I'll have to post up some examples when I get some time.......

I have a rather vague memory that the prices of car parts would have come down when the GST replaced the wholesale sales tax, about 1999, so this may be a factor.

There are a number of factors that drive parts prices. Branding is definitely one of them. Anyone who has visited the thread "Retrofitting missing factory options to new-ish LR's; FL2, Evoque, D3/D4, RRS, etc... (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/communications-car-audio-and-electronics/231941-retrofitting-missing-factory-options-new-ish-lrs-fl2-evoque-d3-d4-rrs-etc.html)" will see that Jaguar, Volvo, Ford and LR can charge very different prices for the same thing.
I remember when I was a Datsun spare parts man, 35 or so years ago, sourcing a brake master cylinder for an Australian built 200B. Nissan wanted $135. Don Alford Brakes could supply the exact same Girlock brand thing in a plain white box for around $100 less. I know it's a simplistic comparison, but....

That makes the price of a new Roamer Drive quite reasonable..W.

I couldn't see the Fairey overdrive listed in issues 28, 30 & 33 so may have only appeared briefly.
High speed transfer (3 gears & modified transfer box) in issue 33 for $935. I have one of these fitted to a series III and it gives a top speed of over 100Kph with a n/a 2.4 Isuzu motor.
The Roamer Drive looks a fair price but personally I can't justify that sort of money on hobby vehicles, it's more than I paid for most of them.......!
