I remember (just) that being presented by Malcolm and David at the Rye town Hall to a packed house. While the film was showing and afterwards when they were doing a Q&A the whole audience was hanging on their every word.

That film got my Land Rover thing started too. I think it was a Malcolm Douglas film that ignited a Haflinger spark in an old mate.

I have a copy of the book picked up in an Op Shop. "Across The Top & other places" by Douglas & Oldmeadow

Until I read it I didn't realise that he originated from Mornington in VIC.

There were people doing long 4X4 exploring trips many years before M. Douglas came along with his self promoting films . Read this:

21 Dec 1946 - Wild "Motoring" to Cape York - Trove (http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/18012345)

A LWB will not do - so you can use my SWB SW if you rebuild it for me. [bigsmile]

Hi Mark

Been having a few teething issues with my 80" but its fun to drive, the local kids tell me "its a cool little car"

You have the 3 seater top on your 86" I see. Have you done many miles in it yet ?

Not a lot , I had to do the inlet valves and rockers , and have some electrical issues to sort out.... not firing on one cylinder .... just been to cold for my arthritic hands at the moment....but I've got a new dizzy cap and leads to fit witch should sort it
.... I've had a fair few of the local kids pulling up on. There bikes while I've been working on it to drool over it to lol
