For the past few days the left hand red warning light has been staying on cant find any reference to it in my hand book.
If I lock and unlock doors with fob it goes out.

This is a 2013 130 when key is removed and doors closed there is no red flashing of this light either
What is my car trying to tell me?
Cheers Paul

Possibly picking up low voltage from the key fob.
There is a set procedure in the handbook for replacing the battery.

Thanks for reporting the resolution back in. Always good to see a problem thread with a resolution.

Just as a side track, My 2012 2.2ltr has a habit of locking the doors via central locking about once or twice a month as soon as I remove the key from the ignition barrel. I thought I may have been accidentally hitting the button, but no such luck, did it again last night.

Mine did that once (self locked) with the key in the car. Fortunately a window was down.

Mine only does it as I withdraw the key from the barrel. That though, hasn't happened to me yet (self locked) but I am always paranoid it will, so if I get out and leave the key in the ignition, I always leave the window down now. Landy's, ya gotta luv em!

If heading into deep jungle (back in Malaysia, haven't started going remote in Aus) I got into the habit of taking my spare key/remote, toss it into one of my camp boxes in the ute section, or into a mates vehicle.

I usually do the same for the car when away. You weren't in the Malaysian Landrover Club and at the AGM in KL last Easter were you Neil?

I do the same thing. Always carry the spare somewhere (not inside) when away from civilisation.

Nope. Last Easter I was already back living in Oz.
I kinda ran with a feral gang of multi branded 4x4s, never joined a Land Rover specific group like LROM. But knew Alyna Tai, and Atek fitted my ATBs and set up the R&Ps properly for me.

Ok, we were there on holiday, contacted Alyna and they invited us to the agm. Great bunch of people

Have had this problem over the last couple of weeks(my16 puma), being unable to unlock the car, setting off the alarm by using the key was what led me to change the battery. A couple of things that I learn from reading the manual [bigwhistle]
One of the flat keyfob indications is that you need to press the unlock button twice.
The ignition authentication lives in the fob, not the key as with some other systems, hence when the battery gets flat the immobilisor behaves strangely.
The red light coming on at the bottom of the dash, this was irregular and would go away if the vehicle was turned off and restarted. I was thinking that I had a central locking problem, not a flat key fob.
One CR2032 battery and 5 minues work later all was made well.

Tote
