I thought I would start up a topic on people's setup in the boot of there landy, ie. drawers, fridge etc.... This way people get an idea on what works and what doesn't.
To start the ball rolling, here is my current setup, which I want to change, hence this idea of seeing how everyone else has there Landy setup for touring/camping etc.
Please post a description and pics....
This is my setup, minus the tools and I normally have a 40lt Engel in there, but I'm thinking of changing this setup now to one drawer to keep recovery and tools in and maybe the fridge on a slide, haven't quite decided yet, too hard to work out at the moment.

Hi Matt,
Maybe you can give us a list of gear you normally carry and your requirements. I believe your kit very much determines what your storage system looks like. I personally hate bags, lose items or just small things lying around so my storage system is based around large containers and a drawer for recovery gear.

I'll take some pics of my RAG drawers and fridge setup in the back of the disco and post them over the weekend. I couldn't mount the engle long ways cause of the cargo barrier
But there is still some space left beleive it or not with the fridge mounted across ways.

Trouble is my setup vary's a bit, depends where I'm going and who I'm going with so I need something that I change around to meet those needs, like I have the 40lt engel going longways, but can't fit a cargo barrier, so looks like I'll have to make a custom one https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

This is my old disco cargo system, engel sat on top running sideways. I too want to run my engel longways, so I want to build a new single drawer system to the left side and put the fridge on a slide at floor level on the right. I did build a custom stainless/lexan cargo barrier for the old one because I made the drawers so deep a normal milford half barrier would not fit. next cargo barrier will start at just below the headrest so the engel will fit. http://www.geocities.com/stomczyk/cargosystem.jpg

I've got lots of pix that I took at the LR 50th Anniversayr at Cooma in 1998.
Pix cover Series LR, RR classics, Disco 1 and Defender.
I suppose I should scan them and post them somewhere.

Why not? I had my Engel 40L sitting behind the barrier in my Disco 1.
Takes just a little bit of time and 2 small modifications.
As I no longer have that vehicle if you post a photo of the empty rear of a disco 1 with a barrier I'll highlight the mods required.
Cheers

you will definitely need a slide for that.....
it would hit the roof if you tried to open it whilst in the car.....</span>

Hi All
We have the 2 zone addon for our Engel found it works well but does require more power we used it at first without a slide and were able to open it ok.Now we have a slide and it will be much easier for Kaye to use.

This is my setup. The drawers are all steel - (drawer & frame) cut & folded by a cnc-controlled system. It rides on four roller bearing drawer runners. Sitting in front of the drawer behind the cargo barrier and under the drawer's top deck is an 80-littre stainless water tank designed by a good mate of mine and built by Out of Town 4WD in Newcastle. It's filled through the side window (second photo). The tap is mounted to the rear bumper. On top of the drawers is a steel shelving system which takes plastic boxes on the left (built to accommodate the boxes without bouncing around). In the middle is a fridge slide for the trusty Engel or EvaKool. To the right is an area for larger space cases or jerries. It's all pretty solid.

Hard to say as I had the aluminium tubing laying around, but the connectors came to $30, Carpet was $50, Timber was $80 and the draw runner was $100, its a Hafle job, can PM you details if your interested. Its the same set up as Greylandys (except his is a tidier job), just added a storage box on the passenger side for kitchen stuff. I used to buy a lot of tube off Capral, be flat being $150 worth in it.

It would be good if people could re-link their photos for this thread.
Stephen, did you build new drawers? What did you do with the old ones?

The drawers went with the old Disco as I was intending on building new ones, and no I have not built them yet. I have just put in a cargo barrier for the moment. I am busy building a camper trailer at the moment so maybe when that is finished I will do the cargo area.

Ah well, never mind. I was looking for a set for the RR and as you were nearby I might have been able to either buy 'em or look at 'em.
