Canberra dropped to -8.7 degrees with an apparent of around minus 13. I think their previous record was minus 8.5.

Coldness is a state of the mind, suffered by those that watch and believe in weather reports with nothing physical to do to keep warm That my theory and I am sticking to it

As I told you on the phone, I don't mind the cold as long as it doesn't drop below 20C. [biggrin]

Hmmm.
You should've been here this morning in the nations capital with me working.
It was still -4* at 9:00am in bright and clear conditions while I was restating a 250kw chiller that had tripped out overnight. (which begs the question why the bloody war memorial storage facility was calling for cooling when it was so freaking cold outside but that's a conundrum for another day...)

One of my drivers that went to the Antarctic was cold once, His LARK 5 sunk in the Antarctic water, back in 1979 he was in the water for near on 15 minutes they had to thaw him out in a hospital the funny part about it they sent him to Canberra to get him acclimatized

My poor Cowboys will be suffering - they'll have to up their scoring rate to keep warm!

When I got into the County this morning at about nine to drive home from Yass, the temperature in the cabin was -4C - and the heater is not very effective, even after the engine warms up!

In Maleny tonight it's 7, which is quite a change from 13 in Bundaberg last night, but I'm parked in front of the fire with a mellow port and a warm lapdog, so it's all good. 😊

It was a balmy 7ºC this morning @ 7am here - but a good friend of mine down in Canberra was complaining that it was -8.7ºC (yes minus) at the same time.
I told him the workshop heater will need to be on for a couple of weeks to recover from that chill.

Back home, and it is +2.2 here at the moment. I have a sleepout that has my three older grandchildren in it. The youngest one, who sleeps in my spare bedroom in the house, just went out and came back with one of the dogs that had been on her sister's bed - it was shivering.

The phone rang at 5:45 this morning, the same chiller had bundy'd off.
I wandered out at 8:30 to reset it.
I have no idea what it got down to overnight yet but think it was below -7°
I have multiple digital thermometers and a laser in the car but I just couldn't care to get them out, it's just cold!
There is light at the end of the tunnel. :)

What a bunch of sooks!!
Been right down to 19 degrees here yesterday, do you hear us complain?
Been selling blankets like mad with this horrible under 20 in the morning stuff but we just hack it.
None of you Mamby Pamby sooking about the weather around Doomadgee, we just get on with it.
Jeeze, if it gets much colder I will have to see if I own long pants! Nearly turned the A/C off yesterday because it was only 32 at midday.
So, toughen up.

Whether those temperatures matter depends on whether you are sitting inside looking at your thermometer connected to an outside sensor or whether you are doing something like this.

That isn't ice on the water, but there was ice on the pontoon where we launched at 8AM on Saturday.

So, sir, would you like to buy a vowel sound or a vowel spelling? Note that 'university' does not start with a vowel, since it is pronounced 'yewniversity'.

That depends on which university you went to. For instance if it was Budapest it would ooniversity, or Rome orniversity, or Berlin erniversity, etc etc.
