130 roll cage with child seat anchor points

Morning all,

We have a 130 300tdi '98 model and need to add child seat anchor points. Now I am sure this has been resolved in the past and we can't be the only ones out there needing to do this addition?!

Has anyone ever had a Safetydevices internal cage modified to include threaded bosses in the bar which runs behind the 2nd row seats? To me this would be an extremely secure place to mount the anchor points.

Our other option is to swap out the old low back seats for newer puma seats, then pay to have anchor points screwed into the backs of the seats.

Any thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've mounted 50x5mm angle iron across the two steel uprights behind the seat with 4 high tensile bolts and mounted the child seat latches accordingly.

You can still reach over and unlatch the seats with ease.

Although not certified I've made car seat mounts before out of the same stuff before and had it engineered so I couldn't imagine an engineer would have a problem with the way I've set it up.

Here's my simple but effective solution. Haven't got around to reinstalling the trimming yet as I need to relocate the solar panel controller still but it still fits over it.

This looks factory - LOVE it. I think I will be making something like this myself - looks plenty strong to me, Where did you buy the bolt in hooks from?

Yeh that was my aim, way stronger than any car mount I've seen. The bolt hooks all came from child car seats, most parents have a few lying around as most cars have the catch built in and don't need them. You can buy them at most car places or from where child seats are sold though.
