Hello to all, hope you are all well.
I received my license back this week after a 6 month suspension...long story [bigwhistle] , and my mrs has been driving the disco around occasionally to keep things running. I've noticed a few problems.
1). Noticeable straight away, it was pulling to left. Heavy and resistant when turning to the right and nice and easy like normal to the left. Checked tyre pressures. Were only slightly out. Adjusted all to 36psi and still no difference. Any ideas what could cause this? She hasn't hit anything in it. The wheel alignment couldn't go this bad by itself over a 6 month period could it? Tyres are pretty old, but I doubt tyres alone could cause this amount of pull and resistance when trying to turn one way.
2). Coolant leak. While the Mrs was driving about 2 months ago, the radiator hose split and temp gauge went up. Luckily she pulled over and I repaired hose to roll the car home about 2 mins down the road. Replaced hose, flushed system and replaced coolant. Anyway, just underneath the coolant overflow tank cap, there are two tubes. One goes to radiator and the other is a overflow tube about 150mm long that just ends nowhere in particular. I went for a 15 minute drive and the coolant in the overflow tank went down about 12mm! It appears it is dripping out of the overflow tube (the 150mm one that doesn't go anywhere). Why would this be happening, considering the coolant level is below the "Cold Level" on the overflow tank? Could it be due to me not performing the flush properly and there is an air leak or pocket in the cooling system?? I opened the bleed screw on the radiator hose when I did the flush. Maybe I need to do it again and see how it goes.
3). The alternator stopped working a few weeks ago. When I pulled it out, I noticed it was covered in oil and gunk. Pretty sure that is what would have killed it. Replaced it with a new one, but obviously need to get on top of the leak before it wrecks the new alternator too. Any common leaks I could look for on the drivers side? Tapper cover gasket looks ok to me.
4). Picked up a factory dvd player from a wrecked discovery for a few $. (I already had the factory roof mounted screen, but the DVD player underneath the passenger seat was missing). So it's all working except for the sound. We're heading up to Fraser Island for the first time in mid Aug and I would like to have the DVD player working properly for my kids, 2 and 5. Some research shows the part # for the headphones to be IRHP01 and the remote RC-1001. However, I think that's from Go Technologies who apparently charge $88 for the headphones (each!) and $55 for the remote. Way too much imo. I've found some others, but wanting to know if there is any way to tell if they will work with the factory setup. These say they will work with frequencey of 2.3-2.8 & 3.2-3.8. Does anyone know if they will work? WIRELESS IR CORDLESS Dual Channel Headphone 2 PAIRS (http://www.elinz.com.au/buy/wireless-ir-cordless-dual-channel-headphone-2pairs/WP2X)

Oh by the way, I'm not really blaming my partner for these problems, just thought it might be a catchy title :lol2:
