200tdi Oil Pump Drive Shaft Question

While reassembling my 200tdi, I noticed the oil pump drive shaft has a single spline that is machine away opposite the pump end, on top. The input gear has the same thing. The WS manual says to "properly align the splines", but doesn't say how they should align. Should the missing splines be together?...180 degrees apart?

Please help.

Short story—it doesn’t matter how you fit it. As a technique, I put them directly opposite of each other for balance reasons

Awesome, thank you. I was also concerned that the spline was missing a tooth and was the cause of the metal bits throughout the inside of my 200tdi.
