3 point inertia rear seat belts and new style rear seats

How does a side facing inertia reel do anything for you unless you slam into something sideways the way you are facing?

Well, it would come in handy if you met up with an oncoming vehicle/tree while coming round a gravel bend sideways. Being 5.7 V8 that's quite probable.
