We found this Series 2A on a farm in Beverley, WA and are currently sorting the logistics of bringing her down to Perth so we can start working on her. I've wanted to start a thread on here but haven't managed to get my photos posting properly. I'd like to just browse and select photos from my hard drive but they're upside down or sideways. In the meantime I've started a blog at the link below and would love some feedback. The two photos on here I've posting using the URL address from my blog. Thanks to Cap for that information.

More photos. I think I could only put 2 in the first post because they were so big.

I was going to say nice dogs, but after seeing what they did to the seats, you boys are ridin out back.
Looks great.
Have fun
I'd try and keep a bit of its old charm.

Welcome. Those dogs looks as if they are saying 'this is my spot now, so you have to take it home'. Look forward to your work on the landy.

Thanks fitzy. Hmmm this is more the likely culprit for the seat handywork. Poodle Jamie of House Treen. The Kelpies are psycho at times but don't have a history of damaging things. Negotiations about the way she should look are in progress. Veronica would like to keep the old charm.

Is that a sand flag being worn by Mr Jamie the Poodle?
Warning other dogs when cresting a dune.

Yes, a custom hi viz vest made by me, Veronica. As well as being a feisty little so and so, little dog syndrome, this little pound puppy can't be trusted and likes to knick off. As well as the sand flag he's packing an old iPhone in his pocket. Flag and orange vest make him visible in the paddocks and the phone so we can track him if he gets lost.[biggrin] He only wears it when we go down to the family farm for the weekend.

Need to change the flag to the LR logo, except in high-vis Green :)

Really like the vest for the dog. We have a cavoodle who is a real trial at the farm as she constantly tries to run for the hills or, more often, the road. We had to resort to two dog harnesses and two leads to keep her around when we were painting the axel last weekend. She still almost wriggled free and we have to take a break from working on the Landy to put her in the house yard. Perhaps we should try a hi vis vest.
Cheers

Hi Angus,

Unfortunately, he wriggles out of the purchased dog vest we use in the Colorado for the trip down to the farm. I made this one so I could add a pocket to take my old iPhone for tracking. He's unpredictable, one minute he's so good and then the next he just nicks off, even when were out in the paddocks with the other dogs - he's the only one that can fit through the fences too. I've resorted to using a long training lead with a rubber disc on the end so you can loop it through and it doesn't work it's way undone. I've also used a peg out line which is shorter but easier to work with as it doesn't tangle like a canvas lead. Both work well with him if he is close enough that he can see you and feel like he's with you. He has room to roam but can't run off. I wouldn't trust him not to chew through it if he got desperate enough. If he did that I would resort to a stainless steel line. I picked him up from the pound for my 88 year old mum, he was picked up wandering the streets and not microchipped or registered, now I know why. She passed and we inherited him 2 yrs ago. I would hate for him to disappear and not know his fate or worse he gets hit by a car and lying injured.

cheers
Veronica

I want to keep her old charm as it's what attracted me to her in the first place. I would like to see her restored and running but I don't want to take away that aged patina and uniqueness that tells her story just by looking at her. I love the faded panel paint, I love the surface rust and the weathered timber planks on her tray. Basically, I want the chassis and engine restored but I want the panel work and tray to still look the same. For the short term anyway.

We couldn't reach an agreement on just how far to go with "Bev" the farm girl so I found Garry another Landy to restore to his hearts content.

This one was a lot closer to home, a Series 3 88" SWB. Chassis no 90302164A which I've searched on Clifton.nl

We're still going out to get "Bev" but will leave that until the weather fines up a bit. ("Bev" has her original motor)

We've both been reading TimNZ's thread on this forum (MY 88" Series 3) and are so impressed by his posts and his methodical approach to restoring the Series 3 inherited from his grandfather. Not to mention the serious workshop envy after seeing all the fantastic photos. We can't emulate Tim's workshop and we realized that the space we have available to us is in serious need of reorganization.

Garry has been in the building game for 41 years, starting as an apprentice carpenter with his dad who was also a carpenter builder. Our son is also a chippy but showing no interest in a builder's ticket. We've had our builder's yard for 18 yrs and in that time have managed to amass all sorts of things. We're tail lend baby boomers, we don't throw good stuff away!

All that is about to change and today we spent about 4 hours sorting, tidying and most importantly throwing things out. There is a good sized area in which to work but it just needs re-organizing. The shed itself is 9 x 6 mtrs but some of that is given over to timber, tools and fittings storage which it's not practical at this stage to discard as we are still a trading business with plant and equipment to store. There is also an under-cover area about 1500 wide at the back of the shed which runs the full length and will be ideal for storing any body panels, tyres and sundry parts etc. Once we finished at the yard, we took a full trailer load over for disposal. There is still a lot more work to do and as always the dogs are in supervisory mode.

The Series 3 has been housed in a back yard shed for the last 8yrs and was purchase for a gentleman by his daughter, a retirement project if you will. Problem is he's 72 and hasn't yet retired yet so hasn't had time to work on it. He has a rego paper that states it was last registered in 2006. We don't know much more other than it has a 186 Holden motor and looks like it has been used for camping.

We will be going over to pick it up on Tuesday so will be able to take more photos in better light, the shed being too dark to take photos of the engine.

As he's been living in the suburb of Forrestfield for the last 8 years and is green we've christened him Forrest.

cheers
Veronica and Garry

Nice find! Now, your story is awfully familiar... starting with one 109" and then getting a second 88".... thats right, its like my situation! So you both got some nice work ahead of you. Look forward to more pics.

Pretty much Carlos. It's amazing how addictive these old beasts can be. It just so happens this 88 looked the best of the lot advertised on Gumtree, locally anyway.

We've checked out and enjoyed some of your videos. I might have to load some of our Landy videos up to my youtube channel too. (only a couple of dog ones on there at the moment)

My brother-in-law used to race jet boats and his son is an auto electrician with attitude so no doubt they will try to have some input. Have already been told there is a spare 400 Chev short block motor if we want one!

Will be going over to get "Forrest" this morning.[biggrin]

cheers
Veronica

ahhh very familiar sight ;) Just a quick tip, when filming hold your phone on its side so you dont get the black padding and it will fill the frame making it larger.

Thanks for the tip Cap. So much to learn my head is going to explode but please keep them coming.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take my own phone and had to use Garry's which I'm less familiar with. Hopefully, I will be able to edit some of the footage into a better clip. I did managed to film some holding the phone on the side too. I've just posted a thread in the Series III area and some more photos if you want to take a look.
