Hmmm not quite, harder than i thought, but I wasn't in any hurry...

Traxide unit is in. It was fun pulling bits of trim off the car and trying to get them back on, not. At least I know how to do it now.

I didn't get a chance to install the UHF radio, but I did run the cables for it while i had the trim removed.

I will be in the same situation soon with a Traxide unit (D4-5S) and a UHF radio to install. So I am very interested in learning from your experience as to what wires from the UHF radio you were able to put in place whilst installing the Traxide (where from and to etc). I was thinking I could run the power for the radio from the Traxide wires that will be in the back cargo area and then only have to run the aerial cable through the same hole in the firewall as the Traxide. In the middle of the same process. I only want to pull this apart once.

Have put uhf radio under passengers seat and run the power wires to back and will connect to Traxide wiring when I install it. Power cables under sill and only visible for about 1cm where it comes out from under passenger seat. Power cables from my icom unit more than long enough and very easy to get under sill and trim.

As I have not run the uhf antenna cable can not comment on that but imagine it should run under the seat ok. Mine will come through the same grommet as Traxide unit. Want to put it through first so I don't have to cut connection off end. Hoping it will fit - unsure.

The only other wiring I can think of to run at the same time is for trailer brakes. Going to run 2 cables to back from the drivers side kick panel and 1 out to battery for power. Going to use the same earth point as the Traxide uses behind the kick panel. Where you wire will depend upon what unit you might choose.

The other one in the back of my mind is driving lights. 2 wires from a switch location on dash somewhere to a future relay location in engine bay.

That's what I did, power from the rear traxide power supply for the radio, and the aerial cable through the same hole in the firewall as the Traxide. All under the drivers side door sill trim.

I'm mounting the radio under the drivers seat.

I don't have a bracket for the aerial mount yet, I will need to do something temporary until I get a bullbar
