Hi, I have a 6x6 perentie that got hot (reached the red line and was shut down) last summer during the fire fighting season and stated blowing excessive amounts of smoke (blueish). When starting it after sitting for a while it starts easily and once it warms up starts to blow smoke and some oil is dripping from the exhaust. No noticeable drop in power, no milky oil. Where should i go from here to diagnose the problem?

Any ideas greatly appreciated

I'm no expert but if it's been seriously overheated it could be something like a cracked ring. A compression test might be a bit more telling.

Hi
I reckon the tensions gone out of the rings, if your happy to put a bit of oil in it, not going to fail on the side of the road. Rebuild engine when time permits.
This section is for on road failures, there is a really good section for the perenties where the clever brains on these will roam
cheers

Thanks for the advice might get a compression test done and see what that reveals!
