I have the lr rails and a pair of bars but want to add a 3/4 length rack. Can i get fittings that will fit the tracks then attach a rack too, would rather not replace the rails if i dont have to.
I should add that i have the glass roof and sunroof so maybe only a half rack can be fitted ?

The fleet has grown again Nick?
I can't speak for the roof rails as my full length rack has replacement rails (Oval Tradesman). But i do have the sunroofs and there is no issue with fitment of full length.... as long as you dont try to open the sunroof. If you do and it becomes stuck, there is a procedure to release (i think hold button down for 30 seconds or so). Guess how i know.... [bigwhistle]

Yeah mate, i think a 3/4 rack might just clear the sunroof as i would like to use it (well kids will) and i wouldnt use it that much but would be handy for mounting an awning and stuff.

You might want to have a look at this in the Markets section:

Is there any reason why you don't just fit the rack direct to the full length bars? Would reduce the profile of the car, or is the rack too thin?

You need a way to attach the platform. The bracket fits into the rails and screws down. The platform cross rails then fit into the bracket and bolt on. In the last 2 pics you can see how the fittings work. There is not much room under the platform in reality. Hard to wash. Impossible if closer.
A roof rack fits in almost the exact same way. I didn't measure the height my old roof racks were but with these low profile brackets the platform is no higher than the roof racks were, probably lower.
There are some threads on roof racks / platforms but I don't have a link at the moment.

The Rhino platforms do not need a cross bar under them, they are built to span between the longitudinal rails. They do have about 10mm of flex if you stand on the platform in the middle. You need approx. min 30mm spacers to get the platform around 25mm clear of the roof so it won't touch it. The rails also have a hog through them longitudinally so the end legs need to be about 5mm longer than the middle legs (if using 6 legs of course).
I have previously 3D printed up some squat legs for a Rhino platform I once owned. These were on Rhino tracks. The OEM tracks (which I now have) sit about 5-10mm higher.

Further to my previous post, I now have OEM tracks to which I have mounted a Tracklander 3/4 length rack again using redesigned 3D printed squat mounts.

Thats the sort thing i was thinking of Chris, i reckon i could machine a couple of those out of alloy. What size is the platform you have in that pic ? , a little longer would be good but it will have to clear the sunroof.

A little pricey for me and a bit small.
