View Full Version : Speakers for County.

Does anybody know where I can get shallow mount 4" speakers for my County? The one in the dash on the passanger side has the wiper motor behind it, and only 20mm of space :x . The antique ( stuffed) speaker I pulled out has the magnet mounted in front of the cone, instead of behind like a normal speaker.

I tried using a spacer ( 25mm section of 100mm poly pipe) with a regular speaker, but it looks like !@#$ and gets in the way!

A dude at Brisbane Car Sound just scratched his head and looked at me funny when I asked  .

TIA

Bruce.

Think the best option would be forget the dash mounted and make sealed pods for the doors.

5.25" would be a minimum for sound quality provided the headunit is 4x45w.

most speakers these day are waterproof,
which means the small amount of water running down past the window seal wont harm them,,

has anybody dunked a set of door speakers recently?

Thanks guys. If I can't find a shallow mount one I'll look at putting them in the doors - like I need the extra work

Why not just get rid of them completely and fit 6*9's in the back

I've fitted 6x9 speakers mounted in ready made wooden enclosures from Strathfield Car Radio in the back, one in each corner above the windows.

Better to have both. I have mounted 6x9 200w Pioneer speakers in home made boxes in the back corner roof and will be changing out the 4" front ones for some 12ow items. Some modification may be needed or maybe 6" rounds in the doors?

I mounted extra speakers in the headlining just in front of the roof lights, in addition to the originals.
