Well, if nobody knows what happened - I'll just make a story.....

Originally posted by Slunnies midnight madness story
Once upon a time there was this fella called Slunnie (name used to protect the guilty..... I mean innocent.) Slunnie was a hard working fella that was enduring the rejuvinating benefits of school holidays, and using it as time to enjoy, build his project IIa, moderate on the Overlander forum and drink lots of Crownies.

One day, perhaps even on the night in question and the very same time of this alleged incident, Slunnie had been working on his old IIa project.

There had been many hours put into this project, including many hot days in the sun and many late nights. On the night in question Slunnie had been busy working on it, and had come home to relax. Hmmm, check the computer before folding for the night. Well down he sits and starts with the emails.

3 accounts of emails so sometimes it takes some time to work through them and generate appropriate responses, but the hummm of the EvaKool beer fridge is right beside him. Oh, the Crownies were at the perfect temperature! They were freezing but fluid - even the Coke in there had turned into ice! Crack the top of a Crownie and it didn't even touch the sides. Well, the emails were cleared, and then it was time to move onto the forums.

Now Slunnie is a moderator on the Overlander forum, just one of a great team of fellas, and has been for a while. Its sort of second nature in many respects. Well, while perusing the forum, hunting and gathering information in a vain effort to satisfy that insatiable desire for more knowledge about 4WD's and LandRovers he comes across Fernockulated. Thinking to himself - Cool! Ferno's made it over to Overlander, good on him, Slunnie not remembering having seen him on the board before.

Well, Ferno comes on with a bang, great big Ferno graphic in the signature block saying "Move over boys, FERNO is here!" Anyway, unfortunately Sig pics are not allowed on the forum for various reasons, and Slunnie's having flashbacks now of A3, one of the IT nerds "the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away" in relation to pic sigs. A chuckle to myself - um I mean Slunnie had a chuckle to himself and starts drafting a pm to Ferno asking for its removal. Its a nicer way than just shredding the sig pic. The pm is drafted, which in a nut shell said, "hello, great you're here, sig pics not allowed, cheers". Off the pm is sent.

Then I wondered if Ferno was online.

Well on the front page, Ferno was online and when Slunnie notes that his name is highlighted in green there was this sinking feeling. Shut the fridge door and your not on Overlander, you're on AULRO!

Back into the PM functions and check to see if it was opened. Nope, good, kill it!

Switch back onto Overlander and start a chat in the mods room about funny midnight madness and go to bed.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ coming home from rwc,(it didnt pass by the way) got almost home when the temp gauge went thru the roof and oil smoke started billowing out the back and thru the cab, suspect a hose or pump went west and motor got extremly hot, looks like a rebuild before any run down the condamine, unless i take the tojo, that i have had to remove from ebay after getting amazing number of hits https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
most embarrasing was having being towed home behind the tojo

Do you need therapy after this unfortunate event.....not the breakdown, those happen every day, I mean the whole unpleasant affair of being towed by a toyota

8) all fixed
, got two new front hoses from ricks and fitted them, also serviced the complete front axle, regreased bearings and fitted new plugs,
i did a compression check and not happy, one is down a bit, but it runs a lot better, is booked in with rick next week to have a look into mystery over fuelling and steering leak and some other stuff that rick might have a better go at than i have had.

is that the old battery powered thumper?

 turns out the culprit was the lower rad hose (the mech had told me to replace it "just for peace of mind!),it has a split two inches long that just dumped all the coolant all over the road leaving it to run on oil for cooling as well as lubricant, and oil is not multi tasking  ,and it all happened on a hilly twisty section of road so eyes werent on the guages at the time, that is until the smoke started to pour into the cab from said fried motor, well at least i wont have to fork out $200 + for a new water pump,at a rough guesstimation parts should set me back around the $500 mark, thats just a rough listing from the 4wd catalogue ,so will have to see if any cheaper from local sources,oh well , better here than on fraser island amongst all those tojo's 8O
oh and getting towed by the tojo ,it was my tojo so not that bad,it has redeemed itself for a couple of weeks till thumper is up and running again https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

twas actually trying to justify buying a second rangie for spares if one came up cheep on ebay, and was wondering if the EFI gear would simply bolt straight on to a carby version or is there something slightly different?

The first thing Cousin John did with his "new" 84 Rangie was to replace the hoses.

He forgot the heater hoses...and guess what leaked
