Key Fob Batteries

Got home Friday night, Saturday discovered the batteries in the spare keys for VW (2009) and Defender (2015) were flat.Not happy about the LR life.
Anyhow after much muttering about lack of initiative, [bigwhistle], headed off to Battery World 4 Fobs later, did them all , $20 in total , cant complain about that.

Then had a chat about Lithium batteries, salesman not a fan, Battery World are getting a steady stream of run away batteries. So they are now putting fire cabinets at all their stores to store Lithium.
I wont be surprised if they become an exclusion item on home policies.

Battery World are bringing out a lead acid solution for domestic storage.
Personally, i am a fan of the Exchange type batteries, especially where space is not an issue.

When I was at Tokyo international AP they made a point the lithium batteries were not allowed in luggage. I'm sure passenger checked luggage must have a lot of devices with these batteries, the onus is on the passenger to declare them , so the cargo hold must be full of incendiary devices.

Remember when Virgin refused to allow Russel Crowe to take his kids hoverboards in his luggage because of their lithium batteries?
I always take my devices in my carry on bag.
Ventilation seems to be the main issue. That was the problem with the Samsung phone.
If your phone or keys get hot in your pocket take them out and open them up to ventilate. I had to do that this morning when my phone got hot in my pocket.
Phones should be placed in the pocket with the battery end with its holes for plugs facing up towards the pocket opening to assist ventilation.

Recent trip to Bangkok, nearly every question I was asked by the luggage person concerned batteries.
