You can pull the unit out and wire up your own input and out i wherever you want it.
I did it in mine and you can read about it HERE (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/members-rides/230572-dans-d3-post2480291.html) (provided the link works [emoji14] ).

How To Wire AUX MP3 Lead - Discovery 3 / Range Rover Sport - YouTube (https://youtu.be/J7_WrBYJ6GE)
In my case I ran the 3.5mm male jack into the lower console area near the 12V sockets.
I also added a Parrot handsfree and by using the yellow (I think) cable at the back it cuts the stereo when playing the phone call through car speakers. It displays --Phone-- on the stereo screen during this time.

The Aux input socket lives at the rear of the centre console next to the rear seat 12v socket and air outlets - yes in the back. LR logic seems that your pimply teenagers sitting in the second row seats will want to plug in their electronic stuff , but the front seat occupants dont need it.
I have an extension cord plugged in there and then into my phone so I can play my music from the drivers seat. The volume on the unit needs to be turned right up to be picked up by the car radio.

Thats only on some models (usually with the Hi-ICE pack and uprated stereo). Mine doesnt have a rear Aux input.

Not on the poverty stereo.
I bought this part separately to gain the rear 12V socket. The plugs except for the AUX are all ready to go in the centre console. (As are the plugs for the fridge which I added also)
Same applies for steering wheel stereo controls which can be added separately and the plugs are all in the wheel.

I would have thought that the SE would have had the mid range stereo (as my car has) 6 stacker - anyway have a look, the sockets are under the cover.

Not on mine. Single CD only in the unit. You've got a fancy pants one.

With due respect but we are not talking about your car but the OPs which is an SE. But thats not important - he just needs to check what he has and go from there.

You could option the SE with the midrange, but the standard was the CD400 base stereo. When i was looking to buy the only ones i saw with the stacker were HSE's

My SE didn't have anything between the seats, but the plugs were behind the fascia, so I used the original wiring to sort mine out with new plugs.

and while I was playing around there with the wiring, I didn't find any unused AUX jack or wiring.

Am i reading this correctly that the wiring is there to add a cigi/usb socket ?

For the life of me I can't get the cigi socket panel out that seems to be held in the bottom centre, also can't find pics of the wiring colours for the aux wiring.

Got the wiring colours sorted but can't get 12v panel out and don't want to force it.

2 inputs done, couldn't get the console trim or cubby tear fascia off to run 1 to the rear but made a fly lead to mount when I can run the cable.

Viewed the forum on Tapatalk and some posts that I couldn't see using the app are viewable in Tapatalk, got the cable ran to the rear and put the dash back together.

Noticed that when i plug anything into the aux input the sound is really low and need to turn volume up to 25 to hear anything ?
I read on the disco3 forum that i may need to bridge the 2 ground leads on the back of the stereo.

Note you really need to install a mini inline amp (or similar) as without this the volume is underwhelming. I was lucky to have something laying around from a previous unfinished project (and I can’t remember what it was called sorry).

I read on the Disco3 forum that if you connect the ground wire from the new socket lead to both ground wires at back of stereo that it fixes this low volume issue, will try it this weekend and see if it works.

I have the OEM Aux input at the back of the center armrest and have found the same. The unit sending the signal to the Aux (eg iphone, ipod etc) needs to be turned right up. If the unit is a quality unit there is no distortion and the volume coming out the radio is fine - so turn up the ipod or iphone to max and all should be good at the radio end.
