We sent a small gasket in a business sized envelope to a customer as the postage would be more than the part. 5 days later it comes back to us , some how Aus post took the small sticker with our return address as the Delivery address., didn't bother to validate the 2 postage stamps on the front, so we take it back to the post office, they crossed out all the bar coding on the rear of the envelope and it was re-posted, Ground hog day again today, it comes back this time they validated the stamps on the front and chose to ignore the large printed address for where it was supposed to go to, and again it comes back to us.
I ring Aus post, and they can't see how this keeps happening, they checked receivers address and there is no problem as to why it shouldn't have got there in the first place.
So now at my expense I am sending this small value part via more expensive method so I know the customer will get it . The joys

My mum posted a greeting cad to a valid address. The card came back with the post code crossed out.
She has rewritten the post code and resent it. We'll see what happens.

Unless she also blacked out the bar code that the sorting machine prints on the envelope chances are it will come back.

A tour of a large mail sorting facility can be an eye opener.

We have a item from Australia post that needs putting back into the system. Same first name, same street name, different street number and completely different suburb. Not even one letter of the suburb is the same as ours. Close but no cigar. Would be a 5/10 for effort though as they at least tried.

I'll bet the card didn't feature a Land Rover. [biggrin]

Perhaps that's why it didn't get there...

Probably didn't. The new grandparents have zero interest Landrovers and see vehicles as mere transportation devices.

Indeed. However, without it we would still be receiving mail outs from the Republic Referendum of 1999.

Aust Post took 7 days to deliver a parcel from Brisbane to Mackay last week and 3 days to send an overnight bag. So nothing surprises me anymore.

Since we and others made complaints about one postman who constantly delivered stuff all over the place and they eventually replaced him, we've had good service.
Up until just recently that is and we don't think it's his fault but somewhere before him.
LROCWA mag no longer gets delivered and it seems some other stuff has also gone astray.
When we complained about the previous dope on his bike the PO said it was "Because he's got new glasses".............. not sure what they'll blame this time. Idiots.
AlanH.

PS. It got to the stage with the other postie that when we received redirected letters they would have messages written on them from other frustrated residents nearby. And some were quite rude.
So we did the same when reposting ...in big black letters no one could miss. bigsmile]

You my not know this but if it was in a guaranteed overnight destination and it did not get there as guaranteed you are able to seek compensation from them for not honoring their advertising.
But you need to make certain you are in guaranteed next day zone, and not in the fast as possible express. Check their web site
Not many people know this so don't pursue it. We have pretty good service from them as we follow up each delivery and hold them accountable, if you growl enough they lift their game
