Mini Powerpack Jump Starter for D4

Hi Guys,

Thinking of getting a Mini Powerpack Jump Starter to leave in my D4, for both jump starting and also powering other accessories such as mobile phones, laptops etc.

There are many different Mini Powerpack Jump Starter on the market ranging in different cranking powers 300, 400, 500, 600 Ah. What would be a minimum Ah I should be looking at to safely jump my D4 if need be ? Also I asked the guy at Jaycar if you can charge the mini powerpacks from the cig lighter in the D4, and he warned against it as it may drain the D4 battery, and said to only charge it from 240v outlet - even though the package said it included a cig lighter charge cable of info. . Is this correct ?

And not D4 specific i have used and charged in my D2 many a time .
Anyone that has been with me when i have used this will admit how good it is .
I have jump started the following .
Diesel Fork Lifts small and big
Diesel cars trucks and 4wd`s and yes 24 v trucks it is doable.
V8 petrols rovers and other brands ect
Still going strong after 5 years and it lives in the car[wink11]

I bought a Projecta one - they come in several sizes. Amazing stuff. About $200 from memory.

As I do further research and take into consideration the use will be mainly for 4wd diesels and possibly tractors at the farm, I may consider spending a few more $ and getting some thing with a higher capacity such as NOCO Genius Boost HD GB70 2000 Amp 12V UltraSafe Lithium Jump Starter $310 from ebay ( Supercheap Auto retail $426 ). I've researched some Youtube and in one video they started a 6 litre diesel tractor with it first time - with no battery at all. They then restarted the same tractor 4 times in a row with no battery - without having to charge the powerpack. There is a smaller unit same brand 1000AMP for $100 less, but extra capacity maybe be worth it.

I have had a 10,000mAh unit for about 3 years but the battery has just quit. Used it a lot on my moody D1 that decides itself if it wants to start.

Have just ordered the 68 800mAh kit. Cost here is equal to $68 AUD, so you are getting it at a good price.

There appears to be some confusion regarding the ratings. 68 800mAh is not 600Ah, or 300Ah. 68 800 is 68.8 amps, but just how many amps it will put out while cranking is anybody's guess. Any Ah rating of a battery has to be qualified by some time period rating, such as most lead acid batteries are quoted at the 20 hour rate. These things MAY put out 300 or 400 hundred amps for a few seconds, but they are most definitely not 600Ah.

What ever the size, and bigger is better, they are well worth having. I recharge my phone with a smaller unit, and it acts as a power bank also.
