Just wondering how many Series owners might be interested in a little gathering around Melbourne somewhere.
I know there's a few of us here, both cival and military, so I was thinking maybe mid spring a little get together might be a good thing.

Anyone vaugly interested?

Count me in... Is the 101 considered a series vehicle, because it's got leaf springs...? [biggrin]

I'd be in that. :)

GG - yes, a 101 is considered a series vehicle. :)

So, JT,, here's my thoughts 💭
Ok 👌 so first up, it's just a thought, and I was thinking that essentially it would just be a meet and greet sort of thing,, a BBQ 🍗, maybe some posing pics taken, a little convoy drive of old Landies, and just the general banter we get up to,,, only in person.

Lee, you can certainly bring the D5,,, Martin, you can come too, in your Defender even. [thumbsupbig] As can anyone else.

As as far as location goes, I was thinking somewhere between Lillydale and Yea,, might even be able to temp a winery 🍷 into letting us on there site,,, I'm sure some of you would partake in some of their wares. If this is the case, we would probably need to get some numbers.
I thought of this because of distance and times to get there, it's probably reasonably central for both the Westerners and those on the Easternmost side of Melb. Of course, it won't suit everyone, but I do want to be fair on as many as possible. And chances are, it'll be a Sunday, which I'm not sure if young Mick would be able to make it,, so let me know dude if your unable to organise something, in which case, we'll see what we can do about a Saturday,, but I'm pretty sure, if the hen, "I" won't be able to make it,,,, and no comments from the peanut 🥜 gallery needed Chris :bat:

Anyway,, just a thought I thought,, might be nice to see a little gathering of Series here at some point. [biggrin]

I'm vague and I'm interested.
Not sure about a winery though........

If I asked nicely I might be able to access a bush area in Harkaway for a nominal sum, if we do some clearing it might be free.
Land Rovers, chainsaws, axes plus a big fire later in the day [bigsmile1]

We would have to behave ourselves. There are toilets and an indoor cooking area & bunk room if we wanted to stop overnight.

Anyway, see what you can come up with.

Between Lilydale and Yea? Perhaps we could have a challenge. See if any Series can manage Rocky Track without breaking something....[bigsad] Or, maybe not...

Lots of wineries ( duh ), maybe Fregussons is worth a look, they have a Sunday carvery for $50 pp, if a BBQ doesn't work out.

I'm glad more modern vehicles are allowed, as the Series III is going to stand out amongst all those old timers.

Funny you should say that - I've conducted that experiment... [biggrin]

As it turns out, even with a heap of camping gear and towing a caravan, a 101 holds well over 14 dozen - that's when I stopped packing them and started getting them send by courier... [bigwhistle]

But empty on a day trip - about 80 dozen would bring mine to its legal weight limit...[bigwhistle]

My '81 has a steel grille.

I was thinking more from the handling and ride. There's not a lot of difference between a S1 and S3. Maybe more powerful motors.

This is just a lazy day to catch up Nathan, no date set yet,, we'll be looking for a "good" sunny day,, could be late Oct through to early December even. When we get some numbers confirmed so to speak,, we'll start to look at dates a little closer in a couple of weeks, and put up a trip thread,,,, not that we'll be trippin' [bigwhistle]

Nathan,

I want to take some pictures of Wallit (Series III shorty with Isuzu 2.4) out bush later in the year. Was thinking about a Woods Point/Gaffneys Creek trip but would be happier if there was another vehicle coming along.

I do need to sort out a stripped down camping setup because my gear normally lives permanently in the Defender but otherwise a few more runs so I'm confident with the vehicle and I'll be ready.
My two boys would be coming along and I'll probably take some fishing gear.....

Let me know if you're interested and maybe we can arrange something.

Colin,
It looks like the October trip is definitely going ahead and there's a bit of interest by Series owners and other LR owners. We're looking at more basic tracks so the older trucks can get through. You're welcome to join us. I don't know how to add a thread link but all the discussion is found in the 'General Chat' under 'October overnight/two night camp'.

Nathan.
PS. Sorry I'm not trying to hijack the thread. Sorry.

Thanks Nathan,
I'll give that some thought. Main reason is to get some decent photos so we'll be stopping off regularly, may just head up on our own a bit later in the year.

Yeah, busy this weekend, so hopefully next weekend I'll get some time to get over and see a few people/places in regards to a venue, then we can sort out a time.

Obviously,, we'll have to wait for at least six weeks for DJ to get on his feet again,,, [wink11]
