Hello All.
For those who are newish to AULRO, we use to have a weekly (could be fortnightly) photo comp. for example, birds, mud, oil spill lol.
Each week a new topic was chosen and people uploaded photos to align with that topic. Once the week was over people could vote. The winner would choose the next topic.
Even though I didnt and still dont have a good camera, I really enjoyed it and found it a good excuse to get out and about.
I also really enjoyed seeing the different photos others came up with.

I am fairly sure it closed due to lack of interest. I was wondering if it is possible and if the interest is there to restart this?

Looking forward to your thoughts

I've been here a while and I don't remember it. Perhaps it might get up now that we have this "New Posts" feature, so, why not? I'd like to see it.

august 2011 seems to be the last comp
Photo Comp #34 - "Parks/Outdoor" ends 21st August (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/camera-corner/133784-photo-comp-34-parks-outdoor-ends-21st-august-2.html)
I could be wrong though.
I will just leave this post go for a few more days and if the mods are ok with it and there is a positive attitude towards it, we can start it up again.

Sounds like a terrific idea Landy Smurf

I found a few old competition threads.... looks like we started a new thread each topic...

Photo Competition #17 - Ends 19-July (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/camera-corner/83403-photo-competition-17-ends-19-july.html)

Photo Competition #26 - Ends 20th September (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/camera-corner/87829-photo-competition-26-ends-20th-september.html)

Does anyone else remember how these used to run?

Sounds like we should define how it works again and Landy Smurf should kick off the first topic!

What do people think?

I will look into the rules. I am sure they are posted somewhere.
Yes every week was a new topic and a new thread.

I'll also see if any of the Mods remember or can find anything -Maybe I'll get Ron on the job [biggrin]

It looks like we may have had a few versions of this Photo competition. The first I found was started by Dullbird in 2008!

I also found a post outlining the rules for 2011 by our late friend Bushie:

Photo Comp Rules. (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/camera-corner/82504-photo-comp-rules.html)

I reckon Dullbird's original proposal looks pretty good... how do you all want this to work?...

I think we could just copy and paste her rules. It is spot on. Thanks for the help

Sounds like we are on the way to a plan.

I reckon same timings starting Sundays probably works....

Let's give it a day or two for others to pitch in any thoughts and plan to start this coming Sunday?

That will also give you some time to ponder what the first topic should be [biggrin][biggrin][biggrin]

Yes all good to start this Sunday.
I already have the first topic ready to go.
I will start a thread on Sunday sometime.
I will post the rules along with the topic.

What do people think?

I think that the new(ish) 'New Posts' thing might help keep it going. Besides, who cares? If it works let it run. It will live or die on it's merits. I, for one, would love to see how it goes. It seems the kind of 'closed' interest of the Camera Corner thing may have been the issue. IMV, the 'New Posts' thing has been the very best thing to happen to this forum. Chased all the little secret hideaways out into the light.

BTW.. mods have to be allowed to enter...

You?? Ian?? Which one is Snowball and which is Napoleon? Or are we to believe that we are all equal? Muttermuttermutter.

Can we post the link in here so I can read the rules. ie can we use old photos that we have taken... I would like to give Mark a run for his money. My camera is all but smashed so I will be using my phone.. (sad I know). And I assume no digitally enhancing... oh the fun we could have.
