Ahh Lucas the King of Darkness strikes again

mm don't know what it is but used to have the auto box warning light come up all the time on my rangie. Strange really as it was a manual. It cam down to wires left there for the Auto that got covered in mud and crap and just shorted

the picture you describe sounds like it might be a brake light.......
check the brake fluid level and that there is no restriction on the handbrake lever....
preventing it from from going all the way down when the hand brake is off.....

oh yeah......welcome to aulro.........

Its the hand brake light. Under the rubber boot you will find the switch and a plate to hold it on or off. These wear out. I looked at my mates one and had no luck trying to adjust it. Crap set up.

DesertDefender,

It could be that your vehicle is a Tunisian Ambulance and you are required to give urgent assistance in the Middle East.

Ah it sounds like the hand brake. On mine it6 comes ao all the time, if I push it down goes off, slightest rub with the leg and it'd back on. Doesn't mean the handbrake is enaged, obvoiusley just one sensitive switch.

Just got mine serviced and asked then to check, still does it!

Just stick black gaffer tape over it... If you can't see it, it ain't really there! But I don't think it's a brake warning light - if you're talking about a TDi with the words "Park Brake" on the far left, top row of warning lights. There is not actually meant to be anything underneath on the bottom row! Could a previous owner have been clever and installed something?

In the TD5 it is for the hand brake and also the brake fluid level. At least it is in the manual I have.

If you`re talking of the TD5, you should check your brakes.
Cause this control goes on the handbrake alswell as on the brake fluid level.
If this fluid is down, you might have a leak in the brake system (I don`t think so) or your discs or the brake pads have to be changed...

I had this several times.
It begins mostly offroad when you drive down a steeply hill
