I am currently looking at going to Ireland for a year.

Have not said anything to SWMBO but am thinking of buying & bringing something nice back to Oz (if I dont have to pay stupid amounts of Duty)

I have heard of a few Lightweights here but not many 101's

Must admit I really like the look of 101's but the LtWt may be more practical. Maybe just have either on Vintage Plates.

Anyone have one or know of any here?

a 101 was for sale in the "trader" mags a couple of months ago - they do come up if you are patient.

There are normally 2 or 3 for sale in the UK on e-bay at any given time but most are ex nato so are LHD.

G'day tonyB https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
There were approximately 52 101's in Australian army service, mostly as Rapier Missle tractors and trailers, mostly with ADU's these were disposed of when the fleet went over to all diesel, taking in atrition rates there should be around 50 Aussie ones around, there have been a few private imports, and some came in from Bruni a few years agowith some L/weights and a couple of Bedford MJ's, they got impounded (too dirty) and were eventually auctioned in Darwin, some vehicles were seen in a truck yard in Dilli but the rest should be in Aust somewhere https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

If importing make sure that the vehicle is professionally washed in UK(to suit Australia) and be prepared to have it rewashed in Aust by customs order (it aint cheap) also try to import it as personal sporting goods  vintage vehicles = sport or hobby, long as it is over 30 years old.

Sound advice there!

As I say .... SWMBO has to approve it first.

G'day TonyB https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
It may be well worth getting a few copies of the monthly mag "Just 4x4" as there is a 101 or Lightweight's that turn up occasionaly https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ you would have an idea of a close price,as most things are Negotable  and remember some vendors put telephone No's for prices https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
cheers

I would love a 101.
I once watched one in action when I was 15,crossing the flooded Avon river and backat the Avon Desent.I had a chat with the driver and found out what a 101 was,Ive wanted one ever since. At this age I already had a love for Landys as the neighbor across the road when I was 13 bought a Series 1 "BULL BUGGY" from a Kimberley cattle station.I watched him restore it to as brand new and still remember like it was yesterday the trip around Fremantle when he first regoed it.
