This afernoon I was cleaning up the shed, and the phone rang. It was my nephew. "Got any jumper leads?". I asked where he was, got the leads, hopped in the 2a and went and got him going. He was only about a kilometre from here, and had been getting a load of firewood. Not exactly a flat battery - he was very low in fuel, and on a steep slope it sucked air and stopped. The priming pump lost its plunger, and he flattened the battery trying to prime it. That was a Hilux.
Then late afternoon, I had just started to put the dinner on, and the dog started barking. I went to see what had upset her, and two women were walking up the track. Now I almost never see pedestrians around here. The nearest house is four kilometres away, and my road doesn't go anywhere. When they got closer, I recognised one of them as the mother of my new next door neighbour. The house next door does not have a landline, and mobiles don't work there.
Turns out they had been chasing sheep in her Mahindra, and had it sitting on a contour bank with all four wheels in the air. So I took the vegetables off the stove, turned it down, and put the sausages back in the fridge. And put a chain in the 2a and took the two of them back there. Hooked on to the back of the Mahindra and pulled it off the bank.
Sorry, no pictures.
Then back home and put dinner back on.
