hi all. im new to this forum as i hope to get some opinions/advice on a perentie.
one of my employees has recently bought a ex army with the 4dbd1 motor. he bought it privately. hes a young bloke and this is his first car. so understandably he loves it to bits. unlike myself, he has no mechanical knowledge at. well, because of his immaturity he has no knowledge of anything full stop. (but he thinks he knows the lot)
there are some inconsistencies that i like a bit of help understanding so hoping someone may be able to give advice.
the odometer shows 25k. however when he was at my house doing his first service a few weeks ago, i suspect its done more like 300,k. for 2 reasons.
1)
it came with a full service history (army). however it doesnt make any sense.
according to the book, the car had 0 klms in 2004 (its a 92 model), and the oil was changed every 500 klms. it has had more repairs than my landcruiser with 500k. if the book is accurate, why change the oil so often and why so many repairs.
2)
when he changed all the oils, they looked much older than 25klms.
i havnt mentioned my suspicions to him yet. hes happy bragging to everyone that his car has only done 25ks. and really, whether its done 20k or 200k doesnt change what he now has. over all its seems pretty normal for a 4by of that age so my missus and the older guys reckon i just let him keep thinking its done 25k.
just wondering though what other peoples thoughts are on the army service manual showing too many repairs and 500klms oil changes. what does that mean, if anything.
thanks in advance.
