And here's a vid of Bill's 6x6 which apparently was burnt in a fire. This has been seen on here before.

I just watched the video - very impressive!

I like the way he has made up his own modifications such as the portal axles.

Though having a paddock full of Land Rovers does help! [biggrin]

I was talking to Bill a few years ago, when he had removed the portals from Wildfing and he told me that the original pre-portal design had dual wheels on front and rear axles, with the inner wheels being a smaller diameter than the outer wheels. So on the road, the car ran on four wheels, but in deep ruts all eight wheels locked in, liked a V-Belt on a pulley, so that the deeper the rut, the better the traction. Vic-Roads had a lot of trouble comprehending dual wheel front and rear axles and wheels of unmatched diameter though.

I’d like to convert our Bedford to 4x4 and D2 axles are the right width. Problem is the load carrying capacity but it’d be fantastic to have.

You can put all sorts of bodies on a RRC chassis. There was a Morris Minor converted in the UK years ago.

Maybe you should do it to that Mini, Chops.

I reckon the best rebodying of a RRC is the Dakar/Bushrangie.

But I do like the Jag conversion.
That is the XJ6:

not the E-Type

.... Vic-Roads had a lot of trouble comprehending dual wheel front and rear axles and wheels of unmatched diameter though.

VicRoads have trouble comprehending simple things like car drivers/owners require notification that their rego is due!
Can just imagine the relevant office filling with smoke from all those fried brains when this dual wheel thing came up for conversation! [tonguewink]

This one appears to be on a series chassis.
